That depends ... what you play or want to play with. If this set needs to be compatible with OTT it may just as well stay, on the other hand if you want more sophistication when it comes to coding it should be in ttdpatch. Unfortunately OTT does not support callbacks, a major feature of the 'Patch'. Maybe someone can find out what the OTT developers plans are in regard to full compatibility of patch coded .grf's and when that is likely to happen.

One option would be to code 2 sets one for OTT the other for the 'Patch'. That is what I will be doing for the Norwegian Trainset for the time being.

I haven't looked at wagons yet. There seem to be millions out there. We will need only a few (1 or 2) of each as we can do a lot with livery overrides. We could have 1 or 2 mail vans and then have different liveries to go with them. The same for passenger carrriages; 1 local, 1 InterRegio/InterCity, 1 International and then override their liveries either automatically or through refitting. MU wagons get their livery according to the engine they are attached to.

ah yes the MB issue!

Its a bit stupid we should have to do this.

EVERY other set apart from MB's cooperate with each other, the people working on one set, might also work on another but no one minds.

There hasnt been a single post ive seen which says, lets do something to stop them getting publicity or whatever.

Just a comment on vehicle lengths. I hope everybody is aware that any vehicle does not need to be full length, simply because you have 32 pixels available in horz-view. EG: a Re 4/4 is much shorter than a Re 6/6 or Ae 6/6. You need to consider the general length of all vehicles in the set and make adjustments accordingly.

The absolut maximum in vehicle length you can use without having individual vehicles overlap eachother are:

-- 32 pixels
/\ 16 pixels
|| 16 pixels

they then can be made shorter by multiples of 1/8 or 12.5 % up to 5/8 or 62.5 %. Therefore if vehicles are made up of multiples of 1/8 maximum lengths, they will all look perfect in the game. On the other hand an always leading or trailing vehicle (eg front/rear car of TGV) could be longer because of the nose cone it could be 36 px long and still be ok.

When it comes to vehicle height; 8 pixels for the side and another 4 for the roof seems to work fine.

Also note extras such as pantos are not taken into account they can still stick out.

My comment had nothing to do with the MB-case.

I just gave a newbie a link to MB's site. I want newbies to get the best TT expierence, therefore I link them to MB's site too. I'm not in war with MB as far as I concern.

Fair point, all im saying is i wish he could cooperate with everyone. i understand where he is coming from, i would hate to have my work copied and then the rights taken from me.

Oh yeah, i just coded my very first train! :D

Currently, if it works in OTTD it works in TTDPatch. OTTD is still busy playing catch-up, at least where new graphics are concerned.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

It is my intention to code both, a version for OTTD and one for TTDPatch. Which one we are doing first, has not been decided yet. Maybe it may not be necessary to have 2 versions at all, it depends how fast OTTD catches up with the 'Patch'. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find out what is on OTTD's drawing board. We'll probably just have to wait until they release a new version, and see what is in it.

I will do the coding, but we will certainly be in need of graphic artists.

The main problem is I'm too addicted to internet and chat. Whenever I feel like drawing I can draw for a lots of sets (Norwegian, Dutch, German, Finnish, French, Swiss, Australian, etc. etc.). Although I am interested in this set and want to have some graphics done, I can't force myself too actually start drawing. Anyways, I will follow this set and might actually draw something. And I can give comments on other ppl's graphics.

Don't forget the vehicle list too
