[NoBug] - Cities destroy industries (Cheat: magic_bulldozer)

Post by Ghost »

In recent buids I've noticed that growing cities often eliminate industries (both primary [e.g., coal, oil wells, etc.] and secondary [e.g., factories])that are on their way. Is it intendent bahavior? I guess this is not good because insane growing cities on small maps eliminate most of industries in few decades entirely destroing economy of the region that is the basis of your railway network.

yeah... i have to say, when seeing cities destroy my industries Im not sure Id immediately think "ah magic bulldozer" (tho, of course, i will now).

Is this a version specific thing that happens? ie, has it been / will it be fixed?

Please tell me noones using the "its not a bug, its a feature!" excuse on that one! :wink:

Try the PouncingAnt National Monopoly Challenge
Or even better, the PouncingAnt National Monopoly Challenge 2
Or better still, the PouncingAnt National Monopoly Challenge 3
Or, the PouncingAnt National Monopoly Challenge 4

Or try my scenario instead!

It's not a bug, it's a feature! :P
When you have magic bulldozer ON, its ON for everybody...
...besides, by the time this happens, you'll propably have so much money that buying a new industry will not be a problem. :wink:

It's a cheat so don't be surprised that towns as well as AI competitors will use it.

It's an easy fix though:

In industry_cmd.c, change some lines in ClearTile_Industry to

Code: Select all

	if ((_current_player != OWNER_WATER && _game_mode != GM_EDITOR &&
			!(_cheats.magic_bulldozer.value && IS_INTERACTIVE_PLAYER(_current_player))) ||
			(_current_player == OWNER_WATER && i->type == IT_OIL_RIG) ) {

/me backs Darkvater on this one.

Enable the cheat only during the time you need to remove an industry, and then quickly deactivate it. It'll spare you some trouble.
