[Release] Class 315 AC EMU

Post by ChrisCF »

After finding that you can't do dual-power properly, I basically modified the 508 to use overhead lines. I don't have the original model (obviously), and I most definitely am not going to manually add a panto to each of 100 sprites.

It's not brilliant, but perhaps it will at least act as a stop-gap until someone does some real AC EMUs.

I just tried it, a weird side-effect is when you build either a 508 or 315, the other model is available to be MU'd on (but obviously a combined 508/315 consist will only work if you've got both electrification on that piece of track)

If anyone's wondering, it does look identical to the 508 in the game. Anyone arty want to add the pantograph?

Excellent work, by the way!

Yeah - I'm not sure why the 508 is offered for coupling either, but I did basically change the numbers for power, etc, so there's probably something in there which needed to be changed which didn't.

I'm tempted ot do another one to make a 150, once I figure out how ot make it not MUable with the 315 and 508, but MUable with 158s (I've seen it done, so there!). Of course, what we really need to do is find some real models of the things and figure out how to make default consists more than two cars long (e.g. 4-car 315s and 508s - 508/0s were only rebuilt into 3-car 508/1s when they moved to Merseyside, and some of those have become 508/2s and gone back south). Anyone know any good 3D modelling tutorials? Google's not too good at indicating the quality of a link, and my time is most definitely not cheap right now.

Maybe when I complete this: (not the loco, but what the loco is towing!)

Can we have the glass-nosed locomotive too?

Ah well, those EMUs will do nicely on my TRS2004 layout...

A 315? FANTASTIC, you legend!
I'd like to be able to use all the units on my railway line (One Great Eastern)

315: Now have, thanks to you
321: MUCH requested
360: its 3rd rail partner requested, could be modded
170: unkown, but im not that fussed
90: Already have

EDIT: It's two car though! I was rather oping for four since thats what the 315 really is...

1. It's now about four months old.
2. As you might know if you'd actually read the posts, I just made a small change to the in-game 508 (which itself should be 3 cars), so that it runs on AC. If length is a probelm, you could always do what I do - couple two of them together ;)

I picked the 315 mainly because visually it's of the same design as the 508, and isn't dual-power (which the similar-looking 313 and 317 are).

313 yes, 317 not quite. I apologise for not noticing how old this was, but it doesnt quite look right with the yellow but in the middle. It could have been the 456 rather than the 508 however, but hey, that's what they chose...
