Thats some mighty cool stuff there, Raven. Your work is getting a lot better :D .

Damn, wish I could get my head around Blender, it just completly confuses me, and I dont have enough time to devote to learning it, especially with school and coding stations for TTP... Eheheheh...

Good luck to you guys.

I see this will be made in OpenGL.

Remember thread I've made about OpenGL? Most of you were flaming this idea because of "comps without 3D accelelator"

I see your way of thinking changed very fast in the mysterious ways...

These trains are sprites, just like the old ones. They're made from a 3D model using a real renderer (Blender I think?). OpenGL can get nowhere near the quality of that one.

First time ever I've seen pre-rendered graphics look almost like hand-pixelled graphics! (Which, is a good thing, imo, as I loathe the gritty, pre-rendered look of Locomotion.)

Do you put finishing touches to all the sprites, or are you just a very accomplished modeler?

where the *bleep* did you see that?

there's not going to be an opengl engine, unless you build one yourself.

Oh, I understand, so there will be still 8 sprites per vehicle, just with better colors and resolution, right?

there is a file for it.

http://ottd.mudpuddle.co.nz/angles.blend

i dunno if the copyright notice is final or legal yet. but the graphics are nowhere near finalised so we have till then to change it

scale is 2x2 blender squares = 25 meters.

i assume a certain knowledge of blender. the vehicle must be facing in top view ("numpad 7") towards the right (i think), and its centre should be approximatly the center of the empty.

don't change the animation, don't change the world settings, don't change the render options....

don't change the light setup either.

models and textures are basicly it i think :P

good luck, and enjoy

hey Raven, this might just be an idea, but now that you've got those awesome 3d-animated trains, why not transfer them to Locomotion as well? i'm sure there's someone to help you out.

OTTD is open source, and thus, so is the 3D files. Anyone can do it 'log as you credit raven

Raven, I'm mightiliy impressed, particularly by those ICE trains! (i didn't see 3 versions though...?)

I'd love it if you did the Eurostar, and some decent versions of the TGV :)

Between you and Alltaken, you have taken the potential of the new gfx engine to a new level.

I was slightly dissapointed when you stopped making TTDP graphics as much and shifted to Simutrans and OTTD, but, well, looking at your Blender work, I can say that I shouldnt of been dissapointed at all, your work is amazing, those last shots of yours are beautiful, I cant wait to see them fully textured, as Alltaken mentioned.
