Size of the tiles

Post by Bernhard »

Hi,
is there a max-size or a min-size that can't be broken?

If a Sprite ist to long/big i get errors in the /-sight.
But ist there a minimum for the length in the - sight??

look at this please, i don't get it into the right position.
It's a tram from SAC, i divided the both parts, because we wanted to get a truth length.

ok, now i have one sight that is ok (tram2), but if i change the direction, the tiles are as shown in tram1

You have to realize that there's a difference between
- the size of a sprite
- the distance between two train wagons

Both have to agree. The first you know how to do, but the second you set with the "shorter wagons" property. You can't make the wagon itself longer, only shorter.

Anyway, a good way to test whether sprite length and wagon length is to put other wagons in-between, i.e. try having tram-wagon TTD-wagon tram-wagon, and see if they overlap or have gaps. If there's a gap, make the wagon shorter using that property, if they overlap, your sprite is offset or too large.

Another thing, if you make vehicle shorter, you need to always draw all 8 directions, because the forward and reverse directions (while they may look the same) need to have different offsets.

Ah that explains a lot!

Yes, of course! I could have remembered that by myself.
I had been sluggard (?) and did not want to draw so much (or code so much sprites....)

Thanks Patchman, i think that will help!!
