SPEED LIMITATION

Post by chevyrider »

Hey, i would say something about the speeds of the dutchtrain set.
In real life i drive trains in Holland for about 30 years now all through the country so i will explain you the reasons for the low speeds here.
Although all modern trains(1600,1700,1800,icm,virm) have a max. speed
of 160 km\h most of the tracks are suiteble for only 130 till 140 km\h
Here for the ATB system(Automatic Braking System which makes an
emergency stop when i overspeed or forget to react at an yellow signal.)
is set to max 140 km/h even on tracks designd for 160.
On this 160 km\h tracks only the internatiol trains like thalys and ICE may drive this speeds.
To increase track speeds the distance between the signals, now between
1200 and 1400 meters, must become atleast 1800
It also can bedone with a lighted number in the signal.
example: green--yellow13--yellow--red.
the last reason is the lenght of the announcemend section witch activates
the railroadcrossing .
altering this is very expensive.
I hope you can use this to make your locomotion senario's look like it is the real thing.
Many happy building hours, chevyrider

I'm impressed. But the pic of the sprinter... it was not directly clear to me that that was a sprinter...

Hmm I just got an idea to be able to include all these different paint schemes... How about having an 'old paint scheme' version of each one, which is the initial version that becomes available. Then the 'old paint scheme' version becomes obsolete and a 'new paint scheme' version would become available. If both versions have the same stats, it would seem as if only the paint scheme got updated.

is it possible to include the DD-AR 7400 power car too?

that would be great, because not all the DD-AR sets are powered by 1600/1800 class

Did you also concider making it a *complete* set, which includes good's vans and coal vans and such? because the lomo versions just dont fit with these trains :(

p.s. nice graphics ;) keep up the good work ;)

The DD-AR 7800 is already finished, but not published yet. I still have not been able to finish the pending release. I've got the flu and a emergency deadline for tomorrow, so I feel miserable and still have to work way too hard. Sorry. :-(
So long and thanks for all the fish.

configurations of locs and carriages

Post by chevyrider »

First of all N.S. doesn't have loc's series 1600 anymore.
They sold the largest part to NS Cargo That later became Railion.
The rest of these loc's became the number serie's 1800.
This loc's all have buffers, ED (electro dynamic brakes)brakes and pneumatic brakes.
The serie that came later technicale almost the same is the serie 1700.
They have low placed automatic coupling on one side, and an additionel
EP brake(electro pneumatic).this brakes work much faster so the are ideal for all station trains witch stop about every 3 minutes.

The following configurations are or were in use.
DDM>>loc 1600 + 6 dubledeck carriages+ driving car.
now loc 1800 + 5 '' '' '' "+ driving car.
DDAR 7300 loc 1700 2 dubbledeck carriages + driving car. not in use anymore.
DDAR 7400 loc 1700 3 " " " " + driving car.
MDDm serie 7800 One deck power car + 2 dubble deck carriages +driving car.
This are all ALLSTATION trains.

For the intercity service we had IRM
IRM 8300 3 wagons
IRM 8400 4 wagons
They become extra wagons right now and new one's are also build
VIRM 9400 9500 4 wagons
VIRM 8600 8700 6 wagons

ICM 3 serie 4000
ICM 4 serie 4200

longest trains for pull use are about
Loc 1800+ 10 carriages ICR + 2 DDM carriages.

The last DDM carraige can be a normal coach or a 'stuurstand' (don't know the english word)

Do you guys already know which vehicles will be included in the final release?

Do you only include NS-trains, or trains from Connexxion (Wadloper), NoordNet (Buffel), Syntus (Lint) and Railion (6400, 1600) too?

Will you include both the CityPendel (without blue stripes (2 car consist) and the Sprinter (with blue stripes (3 car consist))?

Nope. I want to do at least all the modern and some of the most well-known historical trains of the NS, but other than that I'm not working with a list or something. Whenever one train is done I check some of the photo/info sites I've gathered and look which train might be nice to do next. My way of work is quite chaotic, but it also allows me to work quite fast.

I really like the Dutch Trainset, and I found a train which is not included and you may want to add this one to your mod;

I finally have some time to work on the NL Vehicle set. I should be able to release this evening. However, I urgently need some stats on the NS Mail wagon, especially the amount of mail (in tonnes) it can carry, when it was introduced, etc. Lacking those stats, I will copy as much as I can from similar existing wagons of course, but some realism would be nice.

Hi,

On the same site as mentioned above, you can find information about the mP. You just should've clicked the arrow at the bottom and clicked on Freight-->Railion. But OK, the arrow itself wasn't that clear about what it meant... ;)

Here is the URL of the info about the mP: http://www.railfaneurope.net/ns/rl_3000.html

Furhtermore: great work!! I'm looking forward to the release! :)

scrat, i think your looking for the NS H-post
official name Hbbkkss
weight 16.5 tons
load 24 tons
released 1976
max. speed 120 km\h

about the MP motor post, when i drove them they were just filled with roll-containers till the were full, so i think it was a question of m2 floor surface
Actualy the were bases on mat. '64 plan V so i think the load was about 14 Tons.

By the way, very nice work from you and your team.
keep on going.

AFAIK, Wadlopers aren't used by the NS anymore

Connexxion and NoordNet use them nowadays
