[Request to build] Queensland Rail Trains
I know that it is a longshot but I can't make graphics, not even for my own website.
I would like the QLD Rail innercity trains and also the Tilt Train.
I'm willing to get you pics becasue I see them just about everyday on my way to uni and on Tuesday I catch the train to uni a the Gold Coast.
CityTrain website - http://www.citytrain.com.au/
QR Website - http://www.qr.com.au/
I would really like to have these in the game, i'm getting sick of seeing the same old ones over and over again.

Simple rule: Not everybody can draw, but everybody can code.
EDIT: I could help with the drawing someday later. Right now I am pretty busy with the Cargoset.

I often talk to DanMacK on irc about starting a Australian set. If it ever got started, I'm sure we would add all the major cities innercity trains.
But of course DanMacK first has to finish his work on the USset and do his Canadian set. And we would need more artists(I personally am not) and maybe a coder or something. But yeah, I would love to see an Australian train set.

Hmm, How many more Aussies do you reckon we can cram into this thread?
An Aussie train set sounds great, I'd definatly play that, But as I have said in this thread previously, Im no pixel-painter. Might have a try at coding though.

Well, go look at the ttdpatch wiki as there is a tutorial there on .nfo coding. And to get help on the coding, go onto the irc channel(#tycoon on quakenet) and ask a question(the irc channel is also what you get when you click Chat up the top). But for the love of god don't be rude about it. Someone like Patchman will usually be willing to help unless they are busy.Aegir wrote:Might have a try at coding though.
Also if you do go on the irc channel, talk to DanMacK about getting work done so we can start the Australian set (I apologize now for any harm this may cause you DanMacK. I am making a joke and hopefully no one will take me seriously).

Hey, I'm all for an Aussie set, and I'll contribute what I can (C636 in Hammersley Iron anyone?) Although would you be wanting a generic Aussie set or one for each state? lol

Talk to Raichaise. He's an Aussie and has done some of the prep-work for an Aussie set, but it's waiting for projet staff. I might hwlp you get the project going after I polish off a few others I'm involved in, I like Australia. Right now I think we need to complete some in-progress projects. But there is definitely desire for a set from Down Under, so I imagine it will get done eventually. As he has the most experience, I would say Raichaise should coordinate with you guys to determine the list of desired trains.

If someone wants to draw and code i'll be willing to test them out. QR are have been trying to get their Award Winning Rail Network on Simulation games, it is featured on Trainz which was made in Brisbane.
If you need detailed images you can ask Queensland Rail and they can give you some high quality images to use as referance material.
I can't draw on the PC for peanuts. I'm also a first year uni student doing Internet Computing.
All the innercity trains are on the Queensland Rail website if you want speeds, power and stuff like that. not sure about the other states though.

Just make a list of vehicles you wish to include and I'll see what I can do...

Well, getting the list wouldn't be too hard, but we would have to make some fair assumptions - as each state has it's own government controlled railway, we would have to be very carefull when making a "mixed" set, as the different trains would be very different (ie it isn't a whole-nation situation like in Germany, nor is it a company-based approach like in the UK or US...).
Actually, I am going to be impartial to NSW here, as (it seems) that we have the most railways, and the best oppertunity for showcasing some locomotives...
O/C, stuff like freight locomotives could be used from any state, as would famous trains like the Ghan and the Indian Pacific. The 38 Class would be a must for the set too...
I'll see what I can do when I get back from work... But good to see some kind of work starting!

Doesn't Australia have a bunch of different track gauges? Isn't that going to be a problem? Or are you going to ignore it?

You know, I wouldn't know... We certainly used to have different gauges, but I dunno if we standardised or not...

Well, I think there are standardised main routes throughout most of the states, because we have trains going between states often, however I am not sure if the entire networks in every state has the same gauge....
I saw cool pics of some lines in melbourne that had support for two gauges, with additional rails inside the bigger gauge rails...

This is being picky, slightly offtopic, and slightly weird but Victorias public transport is no longer government owned, was privatised at some point, don't ask me whn as I am from NSW, but I learnt that when I went down there a couple of months ago,Raichase wrote:as each state has it's own government controlled railway

Interesting point! I remember the goverment offloaded our Freight Railways onto private companies as well a while back... Good old NSW aye mate!Lightglobe wrote:This is being picky, slightly offtopic, and slightly weird but Victorias public transport is no longer government owned, was privatised at some point, don't ask me whn as I am from NSW, but I learnt that when I went down there a couple of months ago,
Well, regardless, the VIC railways are still a seperate company from any of the other rail companies in Oz, and still creates the same problems...

Well, if we ever did create the set, it certainly would make for some interesting ways of doing it. But that diversity of different cities is what would make an Aussie set exciting.
For example, the Sydney innercity trains are all double levels, and we have the three types, the old ones, the tarangas(spelling, that shows you how long since ive thought about it(to clarify, those slopies type ones)) and then the new millenium trains(lol, waste of money of the highest order). Where as Melbourne have the sort of innercity trains you expect to see in somewhere like NY. Quite a bit of diversity.
