3 Suggestions (Cargo Crane, Max Trains in Depot, Save Train)
Here they are:
1. Cargo Crane Suggestion
I was looking out the window this morning in train and I have saw a cargo crane for the trains. I think it could be a good think to implement in OpenTT since it could be a "only cargo" station.
The lift is simple, it should be only one tile big with a scaffolding and with a crane in the center. When a train has filled a wagon it should go ahead a little to let fill the others. (Mabye it could be implemented as a only-load station)
This could be a simple way to create small-single train stations for factories.
I think this crane would have to be touching the factory and so without a loading range.
2. Max Trains is Depot Suggestion
This one is simple, I think a Depot should have a max number of trains it can hold, isn't to realistic to have so many trains in a depot, so it could be implemented a rail stop where, when the train as reached it, the train will automatically stop and so i will not consume.
3. Save Preffered Train
I would like to have, in the depot gui, some buttons to save (draggin it over) a train. When you want to build that train you should only press the button and it would come out.
To change a save train you should only drag the new train in the button (like the dynamite).

Should depend on the length of the trains too.Psicho wrote:2. Max Trains is Depot Suggestion

And maybe it's useful to have different sizes of depots.

I'd like to add a bit of a crazy extension to this. There wee discussions about sharing Rails between competitors. If that were to be implemented, how about Factories and such having their very own stations? Depending on traffic, these stations could be extended by the factory or by the player itself. That way you just build a track up to the factories station and have your trains go there.Psicho wrote: 1. Cargo Crane Suggestion

IRL, many big companies have private sidings on their own land, which may or may not have been fitted by national infrastructure companies (e.g. National Rail in the UK). However, since the track is owned by the company and not you, I think that you should have to buy the right to a given track, which may cause confusion if the AI starts randomly buying these rights. Of course, it wouldn't stop you providing your own track and stations nearby
This sounds very much like a Doom 3 suggestion (i.e. "we'll not stop you dreaming about it")

I really like your checkpoint, it look like the crane suggestion I said but without the builing on the left.Archonix wrote:What about an actual, visible depot that looked like a real rail depot?
Sort of like this... (excuse the mess, it was mocked up in about 3 seconds in TTDX - I haven't got OTT installed on this machine here yet).
