There are four places set up for me:
-- A: makes wood
- B: raises animals and grows crops
- C: gets wood, animals, and grain, then makes things
- D: cuts down trees, transports animals and grain from B and goods from C
This is what tells Train 1 to do:
- A: Load and fix itself (wood)
- D: Load and auto-refit (only when needed)
- C: Unload, then load, and auto-refit a load of goods
- D: Take off everything for return
Animals and grain are sent from B to D by Train 2.
Because station D isn't always efficient, things sometimes pile up there. The universal cargo wagon sometimes picks up extra things at D, takes them to C, and then brings them back to D, which wastes time and money. How can I stop this?

Re: Problem with Auto-Refitting
A possible issue could be the transport of animals, as some of the rail cars do not allow change of cargo type at stations for animals, which makes sense, as these cars are messed up and need to be cleaned at a special depot.immanueljohnston wrote: 08 Jan 2025 07:57 Animals and grain are sent from B to D by Train 2.

Or in other words - railcars with animals as cargo can often (depends on NewGRF set) only be re-fitted at depots but not at stations.
Would suggest to try your sequence without the animals industry and check if problem persists
