Roads question

Post by Not In Service »

Apologies if already asked, did search but didn't find, are you limited to the two angles of roads for scenario design i.e. just x axis y axis or vertical horizontal, am I right there's nothing for circular roads like roundabouts or diagonals as you can do with rail? So everything has to be on a grid of those two options (or weird wavy zig zags for cheaty fake diagonals and circles).

I ask as I'm planning on a scenario that models some real road networks and wondering if I'll have to work within those constraints, if so has anyone found any clever ways to make things more realistic or are there any fake roads scenery object only grfs that vehicles cannot go down but at least allow you to pretend there are these other road types (if not maybe that's an idea :) )

Am totally o.k. with limitations, you expect it for older games. Just making sure I'm not missing anything useful to know.

There are no diagonal roads or circular roads, correct. You can only follow the grid, with one road tile occupying one square.
