mb's casual screenshots
Re: mb's casual screenshots
Just one question; are your station graphics imaginary, or based on something IRL?

Re: mb's casual screenshots
Nearly all of them are based on RL, but mostly with arbitrary or interchanged (RL) names. IIRC, only 2 names and 2 graphics are fantasy. (This might probably the base for another game: "guess the newstation"? )UseYourIllusion wrote: Just one question; are your station graphics imaginary, or based on something IRL?
E.g., see here.

Re: mb's casual screenshots
This is from a test game for the next DBXL set version. The network is run by the "Stralswald-Steinbrücken Railway Company" (SSEG), founded 1928 at Stralswald (left side) first connecting towns of Wittenhorst, Bad Kiel, Falkenberg and Steinbrücken. Meanwhile the network has grown, extending over the whole 256*512 map into the eastern regions as well.
The SSEG´s network is organized around a double-track backbone crossing the whole map, with branches connecting remote cities and all of the game´s wood resources plus some coal mines. Current number of trains is 86, with 58 passenger and 28 freight.
Over the years Steinbrücken grew into the map´s capitol, so the SSEG decided to transfer its headquarters from Stralswald over here. In addition, the Steinbrücken station turned into a main hub with 16 trains calling in 1957.
Now, this is Steinbrücken main station on august, 21st 1957
in station (back to front):
21 E18 diner 4*coach (from Bad Kiel) [E18 still in DRG grey]
58 ET-25 double traction (from Saarbrücken)
84 E04 5*mail (leaving for Falkenberg) [a mail train]
arriving/leaving:
4 E16 mail 4*coach (to Steinbrücken) [oldest train - 29 years]
S1 ET-25 double traction ("S-Bahn" from Fürstenhaven)
35 E19 2*coach diner 2*coach (to Saarbrücken)

Re: mb's casual screenshots
Let´s take a look further to the east. Here´s a map of the SSEG´s Network East:
Principally the same structure as in the west, a high-capacity backbone with a number of branch lines to remote cities. Over here, another metropolitan area is developing from cities of Rosswald, Duisberg and Kreuzfeld (including Arnshausen further west).
And an additional shot of the capital Steinbrücken (s. first post), this time showing the township of Fürstenhaven with two S-Bahn trains running services around Steinbrücken region.

Re: mb's casual screenshots
This is Innsberg, august 21, 1957.
in station (back to front):
82 E04 mail 4*coach (from Arnshausen)
83 E18 mail half-baggage 3*coach (from Brunsmund)
22 E18 diner 4*coach (from Rotthorst)
arriving/leaving:
13 E19 mail diner 3*coach (to Rotthorst) [left edge]
79 V200 mail diner 2*coach 2*sleeper (from Steinbrücken)
77 ET31 (from Sonderwald to Rotthorst)
This is an important hub on the east-west mainline with some 20 trains calling here. Adjoining the main station is a transfer station for lumber trains, delivering from the north.
Further transportation to the east is by a loop line, which is also being used by lumber trains from Sonderwald (left) delivering directly to lumber mills in the east (4 trains).

Is that teasing DBXL 0.9? The carriages look different from what I remember.
Re: mb's casual screenshots
I can only assume this means that the release date of 17.17.17 is the plan.

Re: mb's casual screenshots
Yes, that´s a (hopefully) long test game for 0.9. First post of the DBXL thread on the German forums gives an overview of included vehicles and their availability.

Love that discussion about whether the first post in that thread should be changed or not. So German ...
Anyway, looks brilliant, but you know that. I'd think about those signals directly after crossings though, they might cause jams

Nice!
I don't recognize the model of Train 23 (last screenshot): is that a new train that was not in v0.82?

Re: mb's casual screenshots
Right. Meanwhile, those have been removed when reworking all the set´s signals.Pyoro wrote: I'd think about those signals directly after crossings though, they might cause jams
Yes, that´s the DRG ET-41, built for regional service in the Leipzig/Halle area in the late 1920s. It is included in 0.9 because it nicely fits the set with its max speed of 100 km/h and because it may be freely positioned within a consist (up to 4 rail cars).arikover wrote: I don't recognize the model of Train 23 (last screenshot): is that a new train that was not in v0.82?

Re: mb's casual screenshots
The new freight station of the Wittenhorst steel works
Today´s increased demand of rolled and cast steel sparked new considerations for iron ore delivery by ship. This would need an expansion of already existing harbour infrastructure, which had been subject of tedious discussions between the local administrations of Wittenhorst and Bad Kiel (see map). Finally, an agreement was reached and construction work on new docks has just begun.
