Can't Find LAN server

Post by Mozer101 »

Hi, my brother and I both play on the same network, I have tried setting up a server on both LAN and internet but he has not been able to find my server. I have forwarded the ports on the router. We have pressed find server and changed the box from LAN to internet and back etc. Can anyone suggest what I've done wrong?

Has he tried clicking "Add server" and then typing your IP address in the box?

Would you please draw a map of your network: you speak of LAN, but say you have forwarded ports. It could be this only relevant when you were trying an internet game, this is not totally clear to me from the first post.

Are you using external or internal IPs? You need the internal ones for this, you can get them by running ipconfig from the command line.

Check the firewall settings of the server PC. It need allow incoming traffic on OpenTTD's game port. You can ignore for LAN games the masterservice and content service ports:
OpenTTD uses TCP and UDP port 3979 for server <-> client communication, UDP port 3978 for masterserver (advertise) communication (outbound), and TCP port 3978 for content service, a.k.a. BaNaNaS (outbound)
