pb_trax: Finescale standard gauge and 3rd rail.
The latest version of what was "UK Railway Set tracks" is now available from Bananas.
This newtracks grf has been created to support the 3rd rail vehicles in UKRS2, and contains four track types - normal rail, 3rd rail, overhead electric and dual electric - with custom graphics and purchase costs. Monorail and Maglev have had their costs adjusted to match the set, but are otherwise unaffected.
Older versions of this set used modified TTDX track, but this new v2.0 features all new track graphics. It also has custom UK-style road crossings, signals, catenery and fences, and five different depot looks based on the wonderful FIRS industry graphics by andythenorth.
Find out more on the wiki page, or download now from Bananas.
Enjoy!

Splendid, I'll stick this in my current UKRS2 game!

You know, I was only thinking that you could make a decent depot from some of the FIRS graphics, but you've gone and done a far better job than I could have! Nice work, I especially like the gated crossings.

They look most excellent!
Re: pb_trax: Finescale standard gauge and 3rd rail.
One minor problem: the tracks cover the edge of your viaduct bridgeheads. Is there any way around this?

Yes. Track NewGRFs can (have to?) provide extra bridge track sprites. They probably should be more narrow.PaulC wrote:One minor problem: the tracks cover the edge of your viaduct bridgeheads. Is there any way around this?

These tracks and depots are very lovely! But they cause some minor problems with Station sets - one of the places it becomes sufficiently noticeable IMO are CHIPS tiles, where green grass pixels "bleed through" to the platforms (see attached screenshot). Not the biggest deal in the world, but a minor annoyance.

you get that with pretty much every station, i think the ballast has to be spread slightly wider.

Re: pb_trax: Finescale standard gauge and 3rd rail.
I might fix that grass in CHIPS, I've tested it. But really you should bug Pikka to make his ballast wider...or we need a patch so the station set can specify the ground tile *under* the railtype. AFAIK, that's not currently possible in a sane way.

That would make far too much sense.andythenorth wrote:the station set can specify the ground tile *under* the railtype.

but if it makes sense where is the fun in it??PikkaBird wrote:That would make far too much sense.andythenorth wrote:the station set can specify the ground tile *under* the railtype.
Re: pb_trax: Finescale standard gauge and 3rd rail.
liking the set very muc so far.
would it b possible to code double track as having ballast in the 6 foot rather than grass at the moment. (im guessing the code must be there somewhere as the fences use it not to draw a fence between double/multiple tracks )

My favourite track set
Would it be possible to code/draw the junctions so that each rail joins with its opposite number rather than stopping short? If you look at the horizontal crossing piece in the screen shot the diagonal pieces feeding in to it don't reach it
Thanks
Bob

Hi Pikka,
Firstly, i love this set, you've dragged me away from NuTracks
My only question regarding features is do you have any plans to add a fine-scale version of the "Lifted Tracks"/"Track Planning" for those of us who would love to create disused lines?

Hiya mate,
Hope all is well.
Don't know if this is an issue at your end but I have 1.2 from a previous life and no matter what I try Bananas believes I have the most up to date version, so I can't download 2.0.
Suppose there is a quicker fix, but I did wonder if there might be an issue at your end?
EDIT: Fixed. I had a rogue version knocking about...

Re: pb_trax: Finescale standard gauge and 3rd rail.
Hi there!
I've got a problem with the set and OpenTTD 1.2.3: No matter if I set the signals parameter on or off, it always uses the set signals, not the default ones. Don't know where the problem is though.

Re: pb_trax: Finescale standard gauge and 3rd rail.
If you're perchance changing the parameter on the main menu newgrf select screen and then checking a saved game for changes, that will not work. Changes to grf-related things on the main menu will never effect saved games; try starting a new game and see if the parameter change works -- I can successfully disable these signals and use the default with the appropriate parameter set.
