The Wadlopers will be around for some more years I guess, the plans to electrify the lines have been postponed. I guess they will keep the Wadlopers running until the lines are electrfied, it would seem like a waste of money if they will be replaced by other trains.

Wadloper will be out of service soon, and probaly getting the same faith as the SM'90`s, Or the NS are going to use them for other stuff. *
So soon the Wadloper wont be around. (Is there a foundation to conserve at least a Wadloper 1 and 2 ?)

There are until now no plans for electrification of the norhtern lines where Arriva runs trains. The only line that could be electrified is Groningen Leeuwarden, or Groningen - Leer (Bremen).
First they will have to double all the tracks between these city's before electrification can be usefull.
The new GTW's are a part of a 15 year consession on the northern lines so there won't be anything done until 2020.
What happens then i do not know, like everyone else. Maybe the NS will take it over again

I just saw that Friesland is going invest around 52 (including the new engines) million in a new Steamproject, wich will include building of

Actually steam engines can be remarkably efficient. According to wikipedia, steam engines can have efficiency ratios of 50% and higher, and even more when waste heat is used for other purposes. However, these high efficiency ratios may only be feasible in large installations. Therefore, a steam locomotive might not achieve such high ratios.
Locomotives using multiple expansion (high- and low-pressure cylinders) have been built in the past, and maybe by improving the design even further using modern engineering, one can build locomotives that may be as efficient as (or even more efficient than) locomotives with other types of traction (i.e., combustion engines and electric engines).

I am hoping that they get a bit of a "classic" steam engine look. And i like to know how strong they are compared to its diesel and/or electric brothers

Some information from the Low lands:
The Netherlands:
First PROTOS in Valeilijn colors will arrive one of these days: (5 are ordered)

The RET (Transport company in Rotterdam) has just made the following order:
Bombardier: 11 + 43 new Metrotrains to replace the old ones. (11 for the "Hoekselijn" and the rest for the replacement.)

Alstom: 53 Citadis2 low-floor trams as replacement for the old trams. 10 or 15 of the old ones will get the new RET Livery and will be stored as back-up. With 113 Citadis trams Rotterdam will have the biggest Citadis fleet of the world.
No pictures found but probaly they will look the same as the first Citadis:

And Connexxion will continue with the "Parkshuttle" project (Automated Mover), wich will be running again after this summer.
