It is now 1969. Boeing 737 tomorrow morning, I promise.

Boeing has launched a new airliner that is smaller than the 727. It's called the 737-200. Boeing say that it can operate from short gravel runways if a gravel kit has been installed. There is also the 737-200C, with C being short for Convertible, which can be converted from a passenger plane to a cargo plane. There is also the 737-200QC, short for Quick Change, which can make the same passengers-to-cargo transition, but much more quickly.

It is 1970, and has been for some time now.

Boeing has launched the biggest airliner the world has ever seen, the 747-100. Boeing say that it is two and a half times bigger than the 707. People have nicknamed it the Jumbo Jet.

Range: 6100 mi Cathay Pacific has become the launch customer for the 747. The 707s that ran the London and Paris routes have been replaced by 747s; four Jumbos on each flight to be exact. The 707s that operated those European routes have been sold and the money has been used the buy eight Douglas DC-8s for flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco. 747s have also been bought to serve on new routes to Frankfurt and Rome, with two planes on each flight.

New airline starting –

Northern Airlines System or NAS for short (Easy guess what influenced that name).
Primarily focusing in Scandinavia with its main hub wishing to be at Oslo Gardermoen.
The first routes we would like to offer are connections across Norway to Tromso and Bergen as well as international routes to Helsinki and Manchester.

Requesting four Boeing 737-200’s to offer a twice daily service on each of the four routes – Morning and evening flights.

McDonnell Douglas has released the DC-10, a three-engined plane built for shorter routes.

Range: 6200 mi Boeing has updated the 747 with the indifferent-looking -200. Range has increased massively to 7880 miles.

Cathay Pacific has bought eight 747-200s to replace the DC-8s on the North American routes, and has upgraded all of its existing 747s to -200 spec. They have also increased capacity massively on all their other routes by replacing all their other planes with DC-10s

Let's spice this up a little, shall we?

Cathay Pacific flight 46, a DC-10 flying from Nagoya to Hong Kong, had an explosive decompression just after reaching cruise altitude. The pilots had little control over the plane, but nevertheless they attempted an emergency landing at Hiroshima Airport. They crash-landed in some farmland about a mile from the runway. Cathay Pacific has bought another DC-10 to replace the one lost, saying that the decompression was a freak accident and that there is no need to ground the airline's 72-strong DC-10 fleet.

BTW, the cause for this accident, which I will tell you guys later, was actually something that was a real-life flaw with the DC-10. Any guesses as to what it is?

Was to do with the cargo door as far as I remember. The door opened outward to save space but there was a flaw where the door would sometimes not properly lock and there was no way to tell if it had done or not. Though there was also a number of other issues which contributed to the known incidents.

Rather than double Post -

Expansion on NAS routes. We want to offer routes to Gatwick and Trondheim from Oslo Gardermoen and Tromso.
Both routes to Trondheim will be twice daily. Gatwick to Oslo will be twice daily whilst Gatwick to Tromso will become 2 days a week (each being a return flight).

Requesting two more Boeing 737-200's to help cope with the demands for new routes.

Investigators have found the cargo door and locking mechanism about twenty-five miles from the plane wreck. They believe that a faulty cargo door hay have been the cause of the crash of Flight 46.

It is 1973, and has been for some time now.

Junkers has grouped together with other manufacturers to form the Vereinigte Flugtechnische Werke (VFW)

Based on an old jet prototype that never actually flew, they designed and built this short-range airliner, the VFW 614

The solid landing gear and engines situated above the wings enable this plane to land on short and uneven runways, even on non-asphalt runways.

After years of stagnation, Flughansa has gone bankupt !
All aircraft and shares in other companies have been sold and the benefits from this sale just about covered te debt the airline was in.

The void created by this disappearance was quickly filled by a new company that emerged, based on the newly created hub in Frankfurt.

New aircraft manufacturer Airbus has released the A300, a revolutionary twinjet.

NAS would like to be the launch customer for the new A300 by ordering 3.
Also requesting to reinforce the current 737 fleet with an additional 3 aircraft bringing the total to 12 737-200's

A300's will operate the slightly longer distance routes and those between large areas (such as Oslo/London. Manchester/Stockholm)

Now opening new routes and destinations including:
Stockholm from Tromso and Manchester.
Zurich from Oslo Gardermoen.
and Hamburg from Oslo Gardermoen.

Due to lack of demand, the route between Gatwick and Tromso will now only operate during a few months a year. Between Mid December and Mid April for the winter months allowing people to travel for Christmas, new years and also for winter holidays. The second time of the year will be between late June and early September for the summer holiday period. Flights during these months will still remain two return flights per week.
