How to get night time frame?
How to get night time frame?
Dear TT-Forums Community,
I have seen many screenshot threads that contain screenshots that are in the night time. I was wondering on how to change the time frame from day to night.
Regards,
bwong

Re: How to get night time frame?
Hello bwong,
There are many GRF sets and other GRFs at the NewGRF wiki, check it out here: http://wiki.openttd.org/NewGRF_List
It took me a while, but I found that the Night GRF is located at the Urban Renewal GRF site, which can be found here (scroll down a bit): http://users2.tt-forums.net/ttdur/ttdur.htm

Re: How to get night time frame?
Now, I have not actually tested it. Is this what was in the screenshots? Could you provide a screenshot for me?
Re: How to get night time frame?

They turn the screen bluish, so that it does appear like night, one problem, the industries! look at the pictures!

Re: How to get night time frame?
Nice shots! It doesn't seem like much of a conversion though. All of the buildings and industries are just tranformed into a darker blueish colour. Well, it's the best that's possible so far.
Re: How to get night time frame?
There is no day-night cycle in TTD. Most pictures around are Photoshopped to make it appear as night
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)
Re: How to get night time frame?
I haven't seen any such pictures in the screenshots section.
Re: How to get night time frame?
Well, there are quite a few

Re: How to get night time frame?
I haven't seen any, would you point me to one?
Re: How to get night time frame?
Generally, it's the base GRFs that were photoshopped, not the screenshots.Chrill wrote:There is no day-night cycle in TTD. Most pictures around are Photoshopped to make it appear as night
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Re: How to get night time frame?
I vaguely remember having a really old version that did have that feature though, but I'm not sure how it worked.Chrill wrote:There is no day-night cycle in TTD. Most pictures around are Photoshopped to make it appear as night
Re: How to get night time frame?
I think there were concept patches for it, and a weather framework some time ago, but they didn't really go very far. I think lack of graphics to support them was what brought them down.
As to the Night TTD Conversion GRF, so long as you don't use any other GRF with it, it looks fine - but that kind of takes out a fair bit of the game; I like using other newGRFs as well.

Re: How to get night time frame?
If you really want to get night in TTD, you will just have to sacrifice. This isn't really valuable for me, I think the normal graphics are fine.
Re: How to get night time frame?
i concur with petert, and anyways, if there was a day night thingy, then it would be dark then the next second light
the days pass by the every 2-3 seconds!

Re: How to get night time frame?
If and only if that feature was implemented, it would require the daylength patch, to make actual daylength.
Re: How to get night time frame?
yeah, so that would make the game slower but with the added realism

Re: How to get night time frame?
Basically, yes.
Re: How to get night time frame?
Or it could be dark and light on a 3 month basis instead
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)
Re: How to get night time frame?
That's true, since OpenTTD isn't always realistic.
