Kevo00's screenshots

A couple of months after transferring over from Loco to OTTD and its about time I did some screenshots, since I have enjoyed viewing everyone else's so much. I don't get much time to play the game so this will be rather sporadic I'm afraid.

Recently, having bored of random scenarios I've been playing the Iceland scenario since it reminds me of the Railroad Tycoon 2 Iceland scenario and its fun to bring railways to a country that never had them.

Very Nice Mate, though I think you should get some Station Sets for our Passenger Stations.

ahem.....

Iceland, wasn't that the country in which even the McDonalds bankrupted, caused to a lack of customers and extremely expensive fly-in fast food?
because of only 0,7% of the country soil was suitable for agriculture.....
and of course the 0,5 million residents and a BNP of 5,5 billion euro's??

looks like a bit of a silly country, but with amazing nature!!!!

Yes, well if you could recommend something it would be great...though I do have nostalgia for the old school TTD ones.

@SniperDJ - this is true, but since when has TT been realistic?

MB's NewStations are good. So are the Old Project Generic Stations.

Nowt wrong with the default stations, I use them later in the game for a nice posh overall roof. Shame they don't have passenger animation.
Typical economist going for the efficient style of junctions ;)

Yeah. I have always liked the 'Hornby' feel of the default stations.

I knew someone would mention the junction issue :) . Going back to the TT series from Loco, the track in OTTD seems quite unrealistic and ugly as a rule anyway. I've tried to avoid the 'diamond' where possible but not sure about the merits of avoiding the 'x' because a 'v' doesn't seem much more realistic either. Even with path signalling (what a relief that is) in efficiency terms it still seems best to have trains sharing a section for the least amount of time possible.

I like being a track builder :)

I was referring more to the flying junctions ;)

I've no problem with it really, each to their own and all that.

Ah yes :) flying always seems superior to stopping the trains coming the other way.

The pathfinding is for me OTTD's real advantage - it really brings the flying junction into its own without needing waypoints.

Nice stuff! I might have a bit of time this summer to play too so I might get screenshotting :)

it looks nice, but could you make your freight trains longer?

these are my preferences (i use firs)

a 14 tile train for normal freight
a 21 tile train for bulk and oil
a 7 tile train for goods to cities (otherwise it won't fit in the stations)

I could but then they would take ages to load, because they wouldn't fit in the stations, surely? Or do old TTD rules not apply?

A variation TT rules apply as I understand it. You'd certainly need a bloody long platform. The longest freight trains I run are 9 tiles on freight multiplier set to 5. They're quite slow enough!

Yes, you'd need long platforms but I don't care, I like large stations. and I use triple-engined trains for the 21 tile trains. so HP isn't a problem

Some shots from a game that I've started with the patchpack. Started in 1920 for a change and used the 2cc set.
