Assuming it's a TT-related question, best way would be trucks and trains from a forest to a sawmill. Make sure the thing (truck/train) carries wood and make it full-load at the forest, and not unload at the sawmill. It should work.

And could you tell wether you're using OpenTTD, TTPatch, or another game, so a moderator could move this to the correct forum?

If you don't mean a game, well, then it depends on how much wood you want to transport.

By making more routes or taking out some loan, cheating helps too.

A good simple start to make a bit of money would be a few buslines. Be sure to pick the largest towns available. It's not the most profitable option, but it works.

Another strategy which usualy works well is coal trains.
