Moving the volume control has no effect on music (GNU/Linux)

Hello.
I use OpenTTD 1.7.1 on GNU/Linux, Debian 9. I have Timidity++ installed. When I move the music volume side in the built-in music player nothing happens. The volume does not change even if I change it from MIN to MAX or vice-versa. What can I do to make it work? Thanks.
