I think the major issue is just making sure the mD5 checksums are proper for each file.

ALso all the music you add have to be MIDI files.

The latter usually is a much bigger show stopper.

That, and it has to be in the General MIDI format. It cannot rely on any customized sounds or fonts added by companies.

General MIDI's aren't that hard to come by, just search up MIDI stuff on the interenet and you'll likely find Video Game music and sometimes songs in MIDI format (minus the lyrics since MIDI doesnt do lyrics)

You know, that's not quite true the last part. There is a way to stuff lyrics into MIDI files. You just have to sing it yourself!

Can somebody FREAKIN talk english here ? Like layman english and tell me, how in the heck do you actually
be able to play the music you've just downloaded ?

Here's what I did. Step by Step : -

1) Started OpenTTD.
2) in the main menu, Clicked on Check Online Content.
3) under the Tag/name Filter box, I typed Music.
4) Saw Base music Doom 1 Soundtrack. I clicked on the check box on the left
5) Then Clicked Download. It begin to download cos there was a progress bar. It downloaded.
6) Then Loaded the game I saved earlier.
7) Clicked and open the music Jazz Jukebox thingy.
8) Clicked play and it played the same old damn music. NOT the one I just downloaded.
9) Clicked on Program, I see the same old playlist. I clicked on All. STILL all the same tracks.

So guys/gals, pls help us out here. Whats missing in my steps ? I have already downloaded it. So what I gotta do to hear that Doom Music on OpenTTD ? Pls help guys. :( :(

OK NO thanks to the whole lot of you. I finally figured it out by myself.

Heres how to do it !

Once you have already downloaded the music content from the Check Online Content.

Step 1 : Click on Game Options in the main menu.

Step 2 : Look down below to the part Base Music Set.
Click on the scroll down menu. Select the music base that you have just downloaded.

Step 3 : After that launch your game, open your Jazz Jukebox. Click All. And You have the music you wanted.

Wonder if theres a way to Play ALL the sets at one go.

Right now, there is no way to play more than one installed music set at a time.

We've made some improvements to music handling that will be released with version 1.9 later this year, and I think we'll have nightly versions up soon too. I believe JGR has also integrated these changes in his patch-pack already.
The most visible change is that you will be able to change music set during the game:

The other change shown here, is support for loading the TTD and TTO music from the original DOS versions of the games.

And yes as hinted, may also add support for playing sampled music (like WAV, MP3, OGG files), but that's not actually programmed yet.

so, let me get this straight, you're coming in here, hijack a thread that is not related to your problem at all, talk in a demanding/borderline insulting tone, and expect an immediate reply?

maybe you should demand your money back.
