I been a bit quiet with objects for the moment.

Two reasons .. I working on the AuzInd set again and started a new one called AizInd160 which is only suitable for those who have upgraded to OpenTTD 1.6.0 or higher or a compatible Nightlies.

Other reason I been working on Sprites .. so can draw your design on more then 1 tile at same time and not need to split your graphics later in to single tiles.

Quast65 started this idea with 2x2 sizes and Silverx50 done some sets 2x3, 3x3 and 4x4 with a single view. I been working on these so have more views.

What we have done so fare here there are.

There are 6 sets here .. 2x2 4 views, 2x3 1 view, 2x3 2 views, 3x3 1 view, 3x3 4 views, 4x4 1 view and 4x4 4 views.

Before I do any more Objects I will wait for a while until I finish my ideas with the Industry sets and these sprites.

Hope the next objects will be add-ons for some of the Industries I do.

Some of the Industries I have added are:
FASTFOOD :- Accept: Food, Passengers, Supplies. Produce: Passengers,
FRESHWATER LAKES :- Accept: , , . Produce: Fish, Water
LAKE AND WATER TOWER :- Accept: , , . Produce: Water, Fish
SHEARING SHEDS :- Accept: Farm Supplies, , . Produce: Livestock, Wool
MILKING SHEDS :- Accept: Farm Supplies, , . Produce: Milk, Livestock
MOTOR INN :- Accept: Food, Passengers, . Produce: Passengers,
HOLIDAYRESORT :- Accept: Food, Passengers, . Produce: Passengers,
SCHOOLS :- Accept: Food, Passengers, . Produce: Passengers,
WOOL BROKERS :- Accept: Wool, Cotton, . Produce: Goods, Farm Supplies

I'm back into objects for a while.

I added a river tile .. it joins a fake river to a real river.
Fixed The wooden bridge lines up better now with the fake roads.

Trying to make a wooden river bridge.

This my first attempt.

It a fake object bridge .. it is hiding the Urban Transit System Bridge.

Problem is when I send a train across it it also hides the train as well. I think it a matter of me getting the zextent height right .. I think.

Yes, objects can be built under a bridge but must not extend above the bridge. Go to my submission for this month's screenshot contest and you can see my stuff in action with gabion and culvert object underlays

Like your screenshot .. I think the underlay idea is what I need for what I trying to do.

I did a fake steel girder bridge based on a railway Bridge in Warwick Queensland.

It isn't complete .. to get the girder shape right I used the idea from the bridge from Total Bridge Replacements to see if it would all fit how I hoped.

Intend to change the colours of the girders to a more rusty iron and grey colour.

Your bridge superstructure extends over land which is where the ramps appear. Ramps are flat (your image) or sloped. If a player builds your bridge with sloped ramps, the glitches will be painful. Best to keep the superstructure over the water.

Two designs one with pylons closer together if bridge is used for heavy traffic and one with pylons wider apart.

Have some painting to do to them as like to make them a old rusty look.

If you want actual coast tiles you can use base_sprite_shores for your ground sprites. Um. Relatively new NML addition (and a pretty neat one). Kinda forgot how it works, actually, but sort of like this:

Code: Select all

ground {
		sprite: LOAD_TEMP(0) + base_sprite_shores;
	}
Assuming you're doing your slopes like in the NML tutorial.

Will I need to upgrade my NML for this new code?

The bridges that join the shore I just been using OBJ_FLAG_NO_FOUNDATIONS.

The Steel girder bridges I done as objects are in 2 sets. One set for joining the shore slopes and has the OBJ_FLAG_NO_FOUNDATIONS. The other set for crossing the water and for them I have OBJ_FLAG_ON_WATER and OBJ_FLAG_DRAW_WATER.
The tiles also have a overlap section so boats can go under in those locations.

Cheers

Unlikely you'll need to update anything. You'll need NML 0.3 and OpenTTD 1.4. So that's both ... 2-3 years or so old?

No need to change anything for the flags or so, all you need to do is replace the groundsprite you're using with base_sprite_shores, for the bridgehead object of course.

Here's some fake bridges gotten a bit rusty.
rustybridge.png
rustybridge.png (41.18 KiB) Viewed 2558 times
Changes to Auz_Roadside_Objects:
The wooden bridge on left aligns better with the fake roads.
New Fake Steel Girder bridges.
And so can join the fake rivers to the actual rivers there are some new water tiles added. These allow rivers to go under the wooden rail bridges easier.

If any one wants to play around with these few changes here the grf file.

Great work , could do with more bridges , fired up your grfs into a test game and found a wee problem , don't know if it is me or the grf. When trying to match the fences always landed up a bit out of alignment .Hope this is me , loving AuziInd160 , what else you got up your sleeve for us ,always look forward at breaky time reading the new developments .Keep up the good work , hope to get my fencing sorted .

Thanks for your compliments .. appreciated.

Those white fences you used .. they are not slope aware .. not designed for hills yet.

So far only done the Split Rail Fences and the Wire Fences as slope aware.

Forgot to mention last post about fences.

I not be making my brick fences and security fences slope aware because VAST has a set already.

Try the VAST + Fences 0.3.0 Beta (VASTfences.grf) ..

Their have a Chainlink Fence and Brick Wall fences that can be build along tiles edges as well as in centre of the tiles.

See viewtopic.php?f=67&t=48762 for more info.

Things will be quiet here for a while .. maybe a few weeks or more .. I be going back to my family on Thursday and I have 12 months to catch up on with them. So they be my priority for a while.

When I do get back to this should have my son to help me so be interesting what the two of us will produce as he is keen to learn.

Like to remove the footpaths and cars in front of shops and make these a separate object. Make some fake roads with cars and footpaths so can put these where you want.

Shall see what else that can be added when I team up with my kids.
