Country Boarders

Post by Hulla_Bulla »

Hi what about making a option for using boarders.

so on large maps, especialy real world senarios. you have to buy the rights to build in a country.
this will force you to build a lot in one country before you can, expand to the next.

it maby sould be free to chose the first. so you have to earn a lot to buy the next.
or the price sould raise after you got the first one.

it could just(or just  ) determin how many fields there are inside boarder lines and the set a price for a fields X (squareprice).

No this is a big change in the game. but i think it could be really cool.
hope you fell the same way.

Agreeing with Weirdy, different size maps are only available in OpenTTD. Although your idea is good, and I have often thought about it myself, the problem of how countries should be defined and denoted in game exists. Also, when concepts such as tariffs and taxes enter the equation, the idea becomes overcomplicated.
To err is human, to arr is pirate.

When dealing with countries, the usual term is "refugees", not "boarders". The latter implies a single building, which would require either a rather large building or a rather small country. Or both.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

I think you meant to type "borders" which is a fine idea, but I think it would be difficult to implement in the Patch. I am a Patch player and to be quite frank about it, there is no room on the map. I have not played with OTTD yet, but I know it supports larger maps. Apparently it also supports multiple grf's of the same type. If this applies to trains, then your proposal could be quite interesting as you would be able to have train sets from different countries. Unfortunately, we can't do that in the Patch.

By the way, a boarder is someone who rents a room in a boarding house. Think of the likes of Dave Worley traveling into London where the finer hotels won't have him, so he would have to board at a boarding house. He would then be a boarder.

With a gut like that, I'm not surprised it's heavy sniggering.

Yes, I saw the thread title, and I thought, hmm, is he suggesting a sort of reverse tourists? Where people move from the country and rent a room in the city?
