(Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
Dear All,
I am a new member to this forum. I am trying to install TTD but unfortunately I get an error message saying that: Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!
I am using OS: Vista Home Premium 64-Bit
I did the following trying to install the game but I get the same error message. Please advise me with a solution. Here some information you will probably want to know:
• I imported the registry file in TTD directory.
• I copied dplayx.dll to my TTD folder, renaming it dplay.dll.
• TTDPatchw.exe, TTDXC.exe working in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP2.
• I used nr-ttd.
• I used TTDPatch Version 2.5.
• I tried openttd-0.5.3-win32
• I tried openttd-0.6.0-beta5-win32
Unfortunately I get the same error message saying that: Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!
What is the Solution?

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
Did you also try to copy all the files on the TTD-CD into the TTD directory ?
FAQ wrote:I get the message: "Unable to access Transport Tycoon Deluxe CD!"
If this is in the Windows version of TTD, you need to turn on the Windows 2000/XP patches.
Otherwise, check the line in the configuration file for the CD path. It should read "cdpath D:\" where D is the letter of your CD drive.
One more way to solve this is to copy all missing files from your CD to the TTD directory. Simply copy everything that's not already on your hard disk and it should work. Then you can play TTD even without the CD.

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
Thanks Rob for your reply.
Honestly, I don't have any CD because I download the game from your website. And I suppose it should work without a CD. I am not really sure which files are missing!
I downloaded the following files from the website:
- Transport Tycoon Deluxe for Windows
- openttd-0.6.0-beta5-win32
- openttd-0.5.3-win32
- ttdpt20r1W (TTDPatch Version 2.5)
- nr-ttd
What are the missing files? or do you think it is my OS (I am using Vista), although I change TTDPatchw.exe, TTDXC.exe to be working in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP2? I am getthing the same damn message.

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
Well I have never heard of NR-TTD failing to do it's job.
Maybe you should try to run NR-TTD once more, and use it in a fresh directory. It is supposed to do the downloading of TTD and TTDPatch for you, including the noregistry thingy stuff.
Maybe it's VISTA that's the main problem here.
It's been a very long time ago that I had to install TTD, so I'am sort of a newbee too.

I tried to re-install it many times, but the same error rised up!
Any another solution?

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
I don't know.
You talked about a registry file in your first post, but NR-TTD (No registry TTD) doesn't need such a file.
Did you only use NR-TTD in your reinstalling efforts ?
If so then I don't honestly know what the problem can be.
Maybe someone else, who uses VISTA knows the solution here

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
OpenTTD never shows that error message, so you must have been doing something wrong when trying to run it.
My first guess is that you're still trying to run it with the original GameGFX.exe executable. When using TTDPatch, you must always run TTDPatchW.exe, and when using OpenTTD, you must always run OpenTTD.exe.

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
Could it be this simple.
I figured since he apparently did read the forum to find a solution, he would have also know the most basic thingy of it all.

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
Well, yeah I used "Transport Tycoon Deluxe for Windows" first which has the registery file. Then, I found out the nr-TTD, and tried it. And in both cases I get the same error message.
Yeah for TTDPatch I tried to execute TTDPatchW.exe and not GameGFX.exe, and I got the same error message!!
For OpenTTD, actually I couldn't install it! This is simply because it asked me for "Transport Tycoon Deluxe Installation Location" which it needs Transport Tycoon Deluxe to be install first, which I couldn't install earlier due to this error message (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!).
What to do now?

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
Not sure how to help you, But i have always had a duel boot system of
Windows Xp Service Pack 2 x64
Windows Vista Ultimate x64
I tried to install tycoon on Vista and got a different error to that but I remember seeing some help, I think on these forums about how to move some files from XP hard disk to Vista hard disk. I did it and works fine on both XP and Vista.

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
I have spent the past hour trying to fix this and i have solved it!
Before installing the downloaded version of TTD you need to burn a copy of all of the files to a blank CDR.
Instead of installing from the files on your hard drive, install from the files on you coppied onto the CD. Do not install to your program files directory instead install to say "C:\user\desktop\TTD"
Installation should complete fully with no errors.
Now install Patch 1 (to above location) and 2. You may need to install patch 2 to your desktop, then copy it over to your system folder.
Now run the Open TTD crack on the above location.
All should be fine.

No, in fact you don't. If we had to do that, we'd know, because we'd all have had to do that.skot wrote:Before installing the downloaded version of TTD you need to burn a copy of all of the files to a blank CDR.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
OpenTTD is not a crack. It would be funny if it were, given that TTD doesn't have any copy protection to begin with.
Mixing TTDPatch with OpenTTD is pointless - each of them can do the job alone, you gain nothing by copying the other one into your TTD directory.

Re: (Unable to access Transport Tycoon Delux CD!) PROBLEM
Thanks for the fast reply.
But it's still not clear to me.
Remember: I have Vista!
Where can I change the 2000/XP patches? (Sounds kinda weird, since I use Vista..)
It says if that didn't work, that I should change the cdpatch, but cannot find that either..
EDIT 1: Okay, I feel kinda dumb now, gimme another shot at fixing it.
EDIT 2: FIXED! Thanks for your help!

rebumped....
so, im having the same problem, and i've read the faq, but i dont know what it means:
