On the topic of Geocities (Owen dropped the name in an earlier post):

On the topic at hand:
Yes that all is true, People come and people go, but those who stay tend to get older.
I have to say that I'm still a proud member.

Early 20's? LOLorudge wrote:Well, also, all of us were 8 years younger, which in many cases put us in our early to mid teens, compared to our early twenties. So I think that accounts for a lot.
Don't I wish that I was that young again...
As the saying goes, "youth is wasted on the young". LOL

Well, I'm primarily speaking for myself of course, and some of those that I know are more or less my age. I was 15 when we launched tt-forums, and I'm 23 now. Quite a lot has happened in that time!pullin4u wrote:Early 20's? LOL

Re: The forums are 8 years old!
It's pretty interesting to read about people's age. I never ever visit someone's profile, I just figure out how old they are by the wway they speak. And I must say, I was ten to fifteen years wrong in most cases. Chrill being younger than me, for example, feels pretty weird on my part. I thought you were, like, thirty or something.
I am little, ugly, and nasty. How do you do?
Re: The forums are 8 years old!
Am I to take that as a compliment? I lack the "casual" English since it is my second language. The English I use here is the English I was taught in school
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)
Re: The forums are 8 years old!
Trouble is, the english (don't think it has to be capitalised) taught in schools is better than wot we's actually speak, init.

"As you will know, countries begin with a capital letter, but so too do languages and nationalities, for example: English, Kurdish, Chinese, Arabic, French, Polish. Note that all words that are formed from, or are connected to, these base words also begin with capital letters, for example: Frenchman, Arabia, Chinese lantern."Lord Aro wrote:Trouble is, the english (don't think it has to be capitalised) taught in schools is better than wot we's actually speak, init.
Sorry to spin off-topic in the News section, Owen!

Re: The forums are 8 years old!
Heh, I usually don't read the news section, so hadn't noticed this until now ^^
It's strange to think that I've been here for over 5 years, much has changed in that time, I'm not so sure I've kept up with the times in some ways.
I'm not as verbose here as I am elsewhere, 848 posts in 5 years is really not much, comparing to other forums I'm on... I've probably become one of those strange lurker people of past eras.
Reminiscing aside, many thanks Owen for your work and dedication for keeping things running smoothly and may we see another 8 years of operation ^^

Around Feb 24 2001 I tried TTD Windows on Win2000 and narrow down the errors on memory allocation. (And the DOS version started on Win2000, but instantly crash the whole OS after running the main screen a few seconds). I think that is my first public post on the Tycoon Newsgroup*
So I can look back on more or less 9 years fixing TTD(Patch)

Heh, Josef was rather pessimistic in his reply:
Luckily, Oskar persevered.Patchman wrote: I'm very sorry to say that, but I don't think there is much hope for
running TTD/Win on Win2k. Fixing this particular bug would be very hard

making the game run.
