Forums upgrading; Christmas theme
Just to let you know that I've upgraded the forums to phpBB 3.0.6. This is a fairly major update, so if you notice any problems, please let me know. New in this release is the ability to report abusive/malicious private messages, quick reply support, better CAPTCHA support, and a few other things.
I've enabled quick reply in the Forum Games sub-forum, mainly as an experiment. I don't currently intended to enable it in any other forums, unless there is a particular demand for it. I think generally people can manage the extra few seconds it takes to open up a new page to make a reply.
Also, what with it being December now in most parts of the world, it's time to wheel out the ol' winter theme! Regular visitors should know by now to press CTRL-F5 (or whatever the "hard refresh" key in your browser is) to ensure your browser hasn't cached old non-winter images/CSS. If anybody spots any problems - that aren't related to you having old files cached - please reply here.
Enjoy the new version, and the new theme!
Cheers,

What does this mean?orudge wrote:better CAPTCHA support
It looks great, nice. I just tested it, and it loads much faster than the full editor. Even when submitting the post.orudge wrote:I've enabled quick reply in the Forum Games sub-forum, mainly as an experiment.
Is this part of the Christmas theme, or is it a bug?orudge wrote:Also, what with it being December now in most parts of the world, it's time to wheel out the ol' winter theme! Re: Forums upgrading; Christmas theme
Strange, that OpenTTD Graphics error does not occur for me
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)
Re: Forums upgrading; Christmas theme
It's happening for me in the TTDPatch graphics section too.

Re: Forums upgrading; Christmas theme
It only affects new users - it's the "enter these letters" thing you see. Alas, reCAPTCHA for some reason seems to be broken for me just now, but one of the others works, so I'll leave it for now.petert wrote:What does this mean?
That'd be snow.petert wrote:Is this part of the Christmas theme, or is it a bug?
Whoops, fixed that in the regular TT theme but not the winter theme. Should be sorted now.petert wrote:Yes:

Re: Forums upgrading; Christmas theme
Hmm, reporting PMs may be broken (or more specifically, there is a lack of a link to the report form) on the TT theme. I'll look into this later/tomorrow.
Also, I've updated the language packs. They were a bit out-of-date, so hopefully they'll now support features from recent versions of phpBB properly.

Oh! And we have RSS feeds once again, which we haven't had since the upgrade to phpBB 3. There are feeds for each forum, as well as a general news feed and an "all forums" feed. Hope you enjoy them!
Re: Forums upgrading; Christmas theme
I had to get up way too early this morning could you please fix it so I have to start at a later time?orudge wrote:If anybody spots any problems - that aren't related to you having old files cached - please reply here.
Anyway, it is quite nice too see the christmas theme back again, I quite missed it

The white writing where? Of course it's a little white, you'll get used to it. The default theme is a little green when you've had this for a month

Re: Forums upgrading; Christmas theme
Yes, no matter how much I say it in the first post, people still complain that they can't read "the white writing", not realising I guess that they have to do a hard refresh - often your browser will eventually download the new CSS files, etc, but it takes it a while sometimes, and until then you get a mismatch of both themes.Lord Aro wrote:it changed son after i posted
Re: Forums upgrading; Christmas theme
Owen, I've been meaning to suggest this for ages, and keep putting it off, but given the technically not quite legal status of the original TTO/D graphics, perhaps it might be worth exchanging them for their OpenGFX counterparts?
Just a thought.

OpenGFX is freaking horrible. (No offence, just don't like it..)

Why not? There's really not that much difference I can see.
