I dislike the idea of searching the whole internet for all my files.. I vote to place everything on the repositorykrtaylor wrote:I think the Repository is the way to go for savegames. If it works as advertised that is. The GRFs go elsewhere anyway.

At the moment, there isn't that much to show... it's highly in development, and I haven't been concentrating on the user interface as much yet, more on the back-end things. But here are a few test screenshots: note: things may, and will, change to make them nicer before the final repository!Hyronymus wrote:No preview screenshots to boost anticipation? Don't you think there's too much competition showing up lately btw?
As for competition... I don't think there's any competition for saved games and scenarios. For graphics, yes, but the Repository isn't for graphics - not yet, at least. Let me get it working with saved games first, graphics can come later. It will have an internal GRF file DB to display a list to the user of what they need, but it won't be a public graphics database in itself in its first release.

Isn't that something only admins/mods can do?simmer wrote:Owen, when did you increased the attachment limit??

I'd say you should allow at least a half-dozen attachments. Or four, anyway.

Yep, that's already programmed into the Repository.SHADOW-XIII wrote:Owen, is it possible to use TT-Forums.net memebers database? please ... I'd prefer having the same account for that without additional registration
What I'm thinking I might do is create some sort of Microsoft Passport-type service for TT sites which lets them use the forum's database to authenticate (only trusted sites would be allowed to access this, and they don't get to see passwords as they are MD5 encoded - plus, it's not raw database access, it's via some sort of (possibly SOAP?) API) - so basically, sites like the Repository and Dinges's site could all use the forum auth. Anyway, I've got it working for the Repository, as for other sites, that's a future project.

Too good to be true...
Would it be possible to integrate the forums with it further? Like by looking on someones forum profile, it has:
Saved Games uploaded to repository: 3
Click here to see Saved Games made by Born Acorn
(I assume searching by Author name is allowed)

Wait until we actually have the Repository before adding new features, shall we?

The Repository is coming along well, but due to imminant exams, it's still not finished yet. I have various things to do (exams, general school stuff, Repository, TTDAlter 4.3, OpenTTD music version, etc), and eventually it'll all get done.
Such integration with the forum is technically possible. Whether I'll do it or not, we'll see.

Any Update?
How is the Repository coming along any idea on when it will be finished?
