[RELEASED] Talyllyn Railway V1.1

Post by Train-a-Mania »

The Talyllyn Railway, located in Tywyn, Wales, is one of the oldest volunteer preserved railways in the world.

I have the rolling stock and route (created by Steve Pontin and Kevin Martin), and it is well worth the expense.

Anyways, while I was in Canada, I was able to complete it. I've done all of the locomotives and at least one of every passenger car.

To find out more about the railway, visit their official website.

There's also Wikipedia.

Also, be sure to check out the Talyllyn Scenario by Sarahagain.

EDIT (7/14/06): RELEASED!!!

This is my first release, so please tell me what you think of it!

EDIT (11/9/06): V1.1 Released!

I have made the models smaller to look more realistic. I have also added some new freight cars, a new bogie coach, and a new brake van.

Also, this pack comes with a savegame created by me. This uses Sarahagain's scenario, and only includes the mods required to run the scenario.

I'm glad you like them. I don't see why he wouldn't give permission.

Tal-y-lyn Scenario...

Post by sarahagain »

Hi.

Yes, I am working on a landscape for the Talyllyn Railway.

One limiting factor is the narrow gauge track! There are no curves less than 90 degrees!

So, there is a LOT of straight track.

First Screenshots, of Brynglas Station and Loop.

True, because the scenario will probably start in 1951, when the preservation work began (and for even more difficulty, try operating the whole thing with just one of each locomotive).

Hmm...that's a good idea. I could. However, I don't know that I'd want to do a scenario for it.

Some of the models are by Kevin Martin also - I can give you contact details for both authors if you wish - send me a PM if you need them.

The MSTS models can be downloaded from their official site (http://www.talyllyn.co.uk).

The LoMo set is currently awaiting permission to be released.

And now for a special news bulletin:

Steve Pontin has replied to Train-a-Mania's email requesting permission. He's okay with it, but since Kevin Martin created a majority of the models, he has forwarded the message to him and will hopefully reply soon.

Wow! I'm amazed there is a project about a railway not too far from here (I must be the closest member?), let alone one I've been on many times.

Even better, the whole Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways as they were in 1923!

I see both websites for both have MSTS models.
