I think Zephyris' gamma settings are pretty high... Things do seem a bit dark.

guestion zyph/lord/someone

do the sprites have to be the same X*Y as the old ones, or can they be a bit longer/higher/etc ?

It depends...I think the most important is that it fits...Like the road depot was based slightly on one tile not original size..Same for rail depot..And I guess that Zephyris agrees with me..don't you?

so if i draw a "full size" (IE; 32px wide) chimera it don't/should not matter?

I believe all sprite sizes and offsets are completely modifiable (within reason), for example the new tunnels I drew are of different sprite sizes to the originals... For the chimera preferably I would like 2 versions, both full length and shorter - full length (32px) with normal short carriages would look odd, but the full length would be great in a future grf w/ livery overrides...

Lordazamath, would it be possible for you to amend the first post with shortcuts to the latest versions of the GRFs? I appreciate they will eventually be one set but it would save people a lot of time if they were in one place, especially as you guys are making such awesome progress here!! 8)

Zephyris wrote: Shore for toyland, screenshot and grf. Comments please!
This feels less harsh on my eyes, but I can't help thinking it might resemble the temperate terrain a bit too much. The green looks too much like temperate grass (although it could be play area). I do like your new shoreline. Perhaps 'snow' could be added to Toyland landscape above a certain height that makes the landscape look like a winter-wonderland and functions similarly to snow in the arctic climate. Also, you might want to have a chessboard landscape with playing-card trees (similar to what they have in Rollercoaster Tycoon).

For more ideas for improving the Toyland climate complete with new cargoes and new industries, see this thread.

newTerrain v0.3
Includes:
All terrain
All shores
Water (thanks to leppka)

Changes from v0.2:
Toyland
Better snow transition
More emphasised coastlines (in anticipation of the completely shore patch)

Re: electricmonk
Now snow in toyland with this I am afraid, that would require extra coding not possible in the base graphics files.

Re: pavel1269/Korenn
Which graphics do you think are too dark?

I had another go on Zephyris' station sprites.

What I've done:
- modified the building a tad.
- added signs and benches to the platform.

It looks pretty nice to me now. The sign is in CC, so stations will be very recognisable, even with station names disabled. Maybe two benches per tile is a bit overkill, but with only one the platform is a bit empty (see previous mockup).

I like to do the rest of the stations, so if you guys want me to have a go on that, let me know.

Attached is a very early GRF, it has some inconsistency in it, but that soon will be fixed in my local sprites.

And I must say: this project is going very well; keep it up!

If you could do all stations that would be excellent, I just wanted to get the ball rolling...

Yes Red*Star gave permission :)
About the Rail Depot, it indeed is tileable....64px wide and square (although isometric :D )

I updated the first post.

Heya guys.

Yep, I've given lordazamath the permission to use it... However, I just wanted to say that I like your work... because I wanted to redraw [some of] the TTD graphics for my own some time ago I know how much sprites there are to replace ;). I'm anxious to see how this project develops :)

Alright, then I'll try to create something nice for the other station types as well. Those base tiles you created really are a good start.

So consider the ball rolling :D

newIndustries v0.2
Includes:
Coal mine
Iron ore mine
Copper ore mine
Factory

ie. you can get rid of the newIndustries - factory grf in your settings :)

*edit* and because I have screwed up my body clock, here are some WIP sprites for the shanty buildings in sub-tropical...

may i suggest to put the station sign in the middle and one bank to each side of it? That way there will still be two banks - one sign - two banks - one sign and so on, but it will be more symmetrical.

I agree.
Zephyris: I could not even dream the coast tiles of toyland would look so nice when I threw the suggestion. Thanks a lot.

About the station: Platform is way better than original. My thought: soften = darken the white edges. We need not imitate the ugliness of original. Also the right roof might have a bit more white on right-back too. If there wasn't the mine behind I wouldn't notice.

Somewhere I 've posted commenting on snow in toyland and I suggested pink snow.
This for members that don't browse the forums often or are newcomers. Good, they remind us of such things.

pavel1269 wrote:its just me or its more and more darker? :)
Zephyris art has more contrast than usual. So some dark areas are more dark than they should and some pixels so bright they cry out "I am here and I am not an artifact". We can tweak such issues later.

Hope you will excuse me now. Downloading and enjoying terrain, especially toyland!

here we go.

i tried all last night to try to make that chimera somewhat decent, and this morning i think i might be on to something...

Showing the long version with passanger wagons behind it, in the new terrain and the new ML tracks:) And both long and short versions in the _ view. Other views are not done yet tho.

The reason the company color go down at the end of the unit is because im planning to let it run under the windows on the coaches.

I'll draw the other views later today or during the weekend if the _ sprites are satisfactory.

EDIT; Added the passanger wagon as well. And tbh, im really happy with the result.
