The CanStn Set does not need to be in any particular position in the newgrf.cfg.
Ben_K wrote: ... I just wanted to know if it [bridge bug with Gare Centrale] was fixed as there is now a release. I'd have thought that having a testing stage would allow all glitches to be fixed before release.
I did not want to delay the release of the set because of this bug (made known to me 24 hours before 'my' release deadline). I did not consider it to be severe enough. Fixing it could also have introduced new ones.

But, the good news is, I have found the culprit and it will be gone by the time we release an update (whenever that is going to be).
Ben_K wrote: ... I use road round the edge for the moment. The only thing that frustrates me is that I cannot build a little bit of road to join the car-parks to the road either (due to build on slopes limits - no support for the road). ...

Yes, we know that. There is a road tile in the works to do it, but as long as we have no support for 'road vehicles can negotiate station tiles' it is not very useful. But, we have included the Gare Centrale Extension Tile(s) to solve it for the time being; as you have discovered by now.

BTW, your screenies do look very good, and maybe one day we can have true underground station support to make them look perfect.

Cheers for the updates Oztrans.
Dont think I was complaining about the bug - Was just curious, thats all. :)
Yeah, I'll make do with extensions and creativity for now. I dont expect to use the roads in the station tiles, just at least have it look like the cars can get in and out. It makes no gameplay difference, it would just frustrate me terribly! (As Wally points out, they may not get home for their dinner! )

Hello,

Thank you very much for the update - really a pleasure to play with the new set!

Nevertheless I want to report a problem I get with ng-rails and snow in temperate, using r1599: While anything seems to work perfectly well in the arctic climate, the ng-rails in the temperate climate turn into maglev ones as soon as they reach the snowline - still the stations don't (as seen below).

Thank you very much for all your hard work and in advance for your efforts.

Best regards,

Carlo

P.S.: Savegame can be reforwarded if needed.

Which narrow gauge set are you using? pb_nars does not have narrow gauge.
Try going into your game and turning all (except ttdpbase) grf's off. Then turn on each in turn narrow gauge and Canadian stations and perhaps the set you are using for narrow gauge rail.

... maglev tracks instead of narrow gauge ...
For starters, the Canadian Stations Set does not contain any tracks. But it does show correct narrow gauge tracks at Rennes. That indicates to me that CanStn correctly picks the right tracks from NGRails. The track junction just outside Rennes looks pretty messy as well. Also, you are not using the CanSet. So the problem is not really with us.

Try, what wallyweb suggested. You may also want to move NGRails further down the list. There may be a set that interfers with NGRails, i.e. one that contains a 3rd rail track, which is not snow aware in temperate. Changing the 'unifiedmaglev' switch in ttdpatch.cfg may also solve the problem.

Hello Wally, very nice to see you around!
wallyweb wrote: Which narrow gauge set are you using? pb_nars does not have narrow gauge.
I have pb_nars in my grf-list for (parameter-forced) arctic use only. The screenie (and the problem) is temperate - wherefore there is also the serbian-rail-set (Both NG and SG) in my newgrf.cfg.

Did as you told me - no alteration: Problem stays the same (- what means it shouldn't be a grf-conflict, if I got you right?).

Thank you for your efforts,

very best regards,

Carlo

Delete your TTDLOADW.OVL and set all your grf's to off before restarting the game. Use the "!" switch for the three grf's I mentioned above.

Hello OzTransLtd!
OzTransLtd wrote: the Canadian Stations Set does not contain any tracks. But it does show correct narrow gauge tracks at Rennes.
All correct of course - but what the Canadian Station Set does: It implements the - highly adored - snow line in temperate climate.
OzTransLtd wrote:That indicates to me that CanStn correctly picks the right tracks from NGRails.

As I told above
OzTransLtd wrote:The track junction just outside Rennes looks pretty messy as well. Also, you are not using the CanSet. So the problem is not really with us.
I never wanted to say at any time in any way that you are anyhow responsible for that problem, or anything similar.

What I want to say, is:

Please have a look - it seems that the implementation of snow in tempurate and NG don't work together. And as it even doesn't work with NG-Rails and Canadian-Set as only activated GRFs, it probably affects anybody playing with NG and snow in temperate.

No hard feelings,

respects,

Carlo

... NGRails Problem ...
The problem is with NGRails. It is not snow aware in temperate.

Reproducible and the same result in 2.5 beta 9 and 2.6 alpha r1590.
... but what the Canadian Station Set does: It implements the - highly adored - snow line in temperate climate.
Yes, it does; I'm glad you like it. But unfortunately we cannot update other sets to make them snow aware too.

BTW, it would work if you used the Canadian Trains Set; this is not a must. What is needed now is a fix for NGRails.

I'm happy you ask for help here, even if it is not really our problem.

To help any one to use the Canadian Stations Set, narrow gauge rail tracks, Snow in Temperate and without using the Canadian Trains Set. Here is a quick fix.

The CanSetw.grf v0.2x contains only the narrow gauge rail system; it's snow aware in temperate. It does not contain any trains; feel free to use it with any other train sets.

Simply replace NGRails with this CanSet in newgrf.cfg and you are in business. No parameters needed.

WIN version attached, if DOS required please ask.

Once again thanks,
all the very best,

Carlo

With the addition of new road surfaces in the North American Roads Set it has been necessary to update Pacific Central and the Car Parks in the Canadian Stations Set with 'dirt' and 'snow covered' roads.

These road surfaces will be automatically shown, according to current era and the settings in NARoads.grf. If NARoads.grf is not used/activated or forced to use 'bitumen' roads, then the 'dirt/snow covered' roads for car parks and Pacific Central won't be shown either.

You'll get those in the next update of the Canadian Stations Set, which happens at the same time as the new North American Roads Set gets released, sometimes this month.

I'd have to say though, the tunnels need snow going into them, it looks weird with the snow just stopping. ;)

it fades just inside the tunnel
it would be wired to have it snowing inside the tunnel

I dont think TTD knows if the tunnel is in the snow or not.

You mean it uses the non-snow sprite?
I don't think so; otherwise there wouldn't be snow on top of the tunnel.
And there is some snow in the tunnel-sprite I think, but just very little.
