TTD on WinXP

Post by Wex Longhorn »

I recently downloaded TTD on my computer. Since I got Win XP Professional (if that matters I don't know..) I also downloaded the patch that you need in order to get TTD work together with XP.
I installed it on my computer and I got it working nearly perfect.
However, there is one thing that confuses me. I can't get a full screen picture. Instead there is a centered picture in the size of maybe 600x400 or something.
That is very annoying, cause it makes it very hard to read or play for that matter.
Does any other have the same problem? Cause if you do, please help me, cause I don't know what to do anymore.

Regards

Hi Thomas,

first run TTconfig in your game directory and choose full screen
then go to the compatibilty tab of your ttdpatchw.exe and choose win95 or win98
This should do the trick :D

Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

Thank you very much, I'll try that. Hopefully I will get it to work this time.

There should be another option below the compatibility thingy which is unchecked saying "run in 640X480 resolution", check that one...

Thanks to you who answered my question about TTD. I got it working just fine... for a few days.
Now the game seems corrupted and it all ends in a error. Maybe I should install Win 2000 instead of Win XP? What do you think?
Grateful for any answer!

I don't know what version I got, but since I downloaded it from ttdpatch.com just a few weeks ago I assume it is the latest version.
I tried to download the game once more, and it worked fine for an hour or so, then it was the same as before, the game got aborted with no chance of saving it. *sigh*
Hopefully I will solve this problem soon, cause TTD rules! =)

Maybe I'm saying nothing new, but doesn't the DOS-version under WinXP make it possible to run the DOS-version of TTD? Or perhaps launch the patch from the DOS-environment?

You can't run the DOS version of TTD on XP, even with TTDPatch.
