pathfinder.road, pathfinder.rail downloading, not recognised

Post by kirky_D »

Hi there everyone!

I first started playing transport tycoon deluxe about 10 years ago, and obviously switched to openttd which is very impressive! So first of all, hello, and thanks to the devs for all the hard work!

Now to my issue, I have just started playing around with the NoAI system, which is really cool. However on linux using RC3 whenever I download pathfinder.rail or pathfinder.road via the in game content downloader (which succeeds) the game doesn't seem to recognise that these files exist.

In the screenshot you can see the error one AI gives me about not finding the pathfinder, on the right you can see the file is clearly there. And when I go back to the content downloader, it says that I do not have them any more. This process repeats.

Does anyone know what the issue might be?

Thanks all!

OpenTTD can find the libary, but there is a compile error in it. That is strange, because a lot of people are playing with that very same library succesfully. Can you try deleting the file and downloading it again? Maybe the file became corrupt somewhere in the process.

I totally can't read, it says compile error in the message, lol. Thanks for the response, I'm not at my computer at the moment so can't check it out, but I'll post back when I can.

Ok, great. You can also upload images to this forum, that avoids having to go to another download site with (often) lots of ads and slow downloads.

I didn't realise about the images, I will upload them to this site in future. Thanks for the info.

I tried deleting the file and redownloading it, unfortunately with the same results. Is there an md5 or similar hash function that can be applied to the tar file to check it hasn't become corrupted in any way?

Thanks.

EDIT::

Some more info:

I tried opening the tar archive via file-roller and it gave me an error:

tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

that is the same for the command line aswell. So it does seem to be an issue with downloading these particular libraries, as others are fine and can be untar'd like aystar.

Is there a place I can manually download the tar files?

This sounds like a problem with the zlib library. I looked tonight into the issue and I only experience it with zlib 1.2.4 while I have no problems when I use zlib 1.2.3.3 or 1.2.3.4. See also http://bugs.openttd.org/task/3753
