There's a Kyodo news story today about a Japanese maglev test train running 590 kilometers per hour for 19 seconds...this is supposed to be destined for service in 2027.

This probably is a copy of that Kyodo news.

They're still planning to open the operation with the top operational speed of 505km/h, not these crazy fast (and probably uneconomical) 590 or 600km/h.

It's not, and it's not in the Japanese Maglev set. But it's in some of the latest 2cc set.

More news today. As planned, they went for 600km/h test on Tuesday Japan time, and reached the top speed of 603.

Yes,the linked BBC story says they hit 603 km/h.
