You can hardly criticise him for spelling it wrong when you do too, Rob ;)

It's Schiphol.

I think Ammecher deserves the award for spotting 197243 spelling mistakes to date in my posts and pointing them out every time

Technically, I wasn't criticising you, I was criticising Beeb but as you wish...

You spelt my name wrong.

Hahahahahahaha.

Classic, I just wish you'd somehow spelt 'Rob' wrong, then it would've been even funnier.

Common enough, t'was "Executive" livery. I seem to remember Class 86s had it too.

I've started playing OTTD again, still with the old version since the reborn passdests doesn't contain timetabling. I'm using the US set primarily because loading and unloading speeds are instant, which helps somewhat with overall train times. I haven't been as strict this game with timetabling - trains are set to clock-face timetables but not in sync with each other so there's A LOT of conflicts at junctions!

A small taster of things to come:

1. The small dormitory town of New Addington sits on the electrified mainline which crosses the country. Two expresses pass on the fast lines while a stopping service pulls into the platform on the slow line. There are currently plans to increase the number of seats on the slow lines - the stations were built for 12-coaches but currently only 8-coach trains arrive and depart. The state-run transport company would like to run run 12-coach trains but residents would prefer to have a frequency increase.

The federal highway passes the town and runs alongside the mainline.

Sorry about the delay. Firstly, a nice network map of the entire system :) - all the stations are to scale and in correct locations. We'll be shortly landing at the Chris Sawyer Airport in the east, - someone give me a destination to go to :)

I've tried to be rather imaginative with the Town Names, so do have a look at some of them.

Just made it up in Adobe Fireworks using the Line Vector tool on top of the mini-map to get the station placings. In the end it took longer to put the station names in than it did to draw the lines. You can probably tell it's a long thin map - I just wanted a main line :)

Gimme a destination to visit from the airport and I'll start posting screenies

2. The Chris Sawyer International Airport experiences a rare quiet moment. Largely seen as a White Elephant, the airport is built in far too many runways than necessary, infact 1 would suffice letalone 4. Nonetheless parking at the airport is difficult and spaces are hard to find - the authorities are reluctant to expand the car park, instead promoting the Airport Express.

Our 12-car Airport Express train awaits departure.

3. The Airport Express was originally intended to serve the large city of Bristol a cost study discovered trains would either have to tunnel through the city at great expense or reverse out along the same lines which was deemed unacceptable for an Express service. As a result, Bristol Parkway station was built as a compromise on the outskirts of the city, allowing cross-platform interchange between the Airport Express and local services into the city. A large car-park was also provided although this has generally resulted in Bristol-residents driving to the Express station rather than taking the local shuttle.

4. The train speeds straight through Oldtown on the fast lines while a local stops on the slow lines. The Redditch-Bristol line was the latest of the 4-track railways to be constructed, with all stations following a modular design imported from Malaysia. It is one of the few sections of the network where the Airport Express trains are cleared for 200mph running - elsewhere they are restricted to 165mph alongside the conventional Express trains.

More coming soon

5. Redditch is by no means the most congested station on the network, but it is unusual in that it's a reversing point for the Airport Express. Two expresses are timed to leave Redditch simultaneously, each heading in different directions. National Highway No. 1 passes above Redditch North Junction by means of a new-style tubular bridge. We wait for the local train to take us 3 stops to Arndale Interchange.

6. There is a flurry of activity as we arrive into Arndale. An Airport Express and a Mainline Express pass, with a closing speed of 330mph - customers are advised to stand well back from the platform edge! The Airport Express trains are limited in speed on this section although there are proposals to allow faster running. The Waterside Line connection has just left although the next one shouldn't be too far away.

7. The small town of Florence Springs was founded on the site of guess what, a set of springs!. During the industrial revolution, a ship canal was built to link ocean side of the thin island country to the other. Our train passes over a cruise ship on the way down to Falkirk.

I was wondering, i can't seem to see your attachments, as with a lot of uploaded images on this forum, anyone have an idea as to why? I would love to see your images since the comments make me very curious :)

Greetings BOukev
It takes either 1 train with 8 carriages or 500 cars to move 1000 people. Simple math.

Sorry it's the normal mini-map that's produced by the game. The cargodest patch also overlays it with lines showing routes. I draw vector lines over the top of it in Fireworks, add the stations as blobs then remove the mini-map creating a nice neat map. The end result is something quite akin to the New York City subway map, where all the stations are placed in correct geographic locations, with curves connecting them up not necessary following the real route of the lines.

Hmmm I'm sorry if you can't see. It might be due to the pictures being generated from dynamic dresses (the images locations end in php, rather than png). Have you tried using a different browser? - such as Firefox or Google Chrome? - If all else fails PM me your email and I'll email the lot to you :)

Another few pics coming soon, continuing the journey onwards to Asda.

9. The land to the south of Plainsville is often liable to flood with frequent closure of the lines several times per year. With renewed investment, an earth levée has recently been constructed to reduce the risk of flood and keep the railway open. Nonetheless quite a few passengers have complained at the ruining of what was previously a splendid view of the the Florence Springs farmland and Arndale woodland. The local right-wing tabloid, the Daily Post has even demanded making floods illegal - when asked to elaborate, they simply murmured off reciting something about illegal immigrants stealing local jobs.

10. We alight at Dorridge station, which is one of the few cities in the nation not reached by electrification. The Waterside line train is scheduled to wait for a few minutes and then follow the Tattenham corner train through to Dudley on single yellow lights, calling at Awakefield Westgate and Stourbridge only.

Our crimson-liveried diesel express train pulls into Platform 1. The short stretch from Dorridge to Awakefield Westgate is quadruple-tracked, although it is the only section where the the lines are arranged Down Fast, Up Fast, Down Slow, Up Slow. The normal arrangement is for the fast lines to be located between the slow lines.

The mainline between Charlestown and Alphabet Project Hub is the busiest long stretch on the network with three express lines operating along it. With the expected traffic, a flat junction to connect the spur to Dorridge was not possible and potentially dangerous with 165mph running; as a result a flying junction was built instead.

We pass the prototype double-decker airport express train capable of carrying twice as many passengers as a single-deck consist. There are capacity issues on the Airport Express with residents of Bristol especially complaining about the difficulty in finding seats. Unfortunately it makes little sense to replace the entire fleet of single-deck Airport Express trains, being only a few years old, although it is proposed that they be cascaded onto the next high-speed line to be built. The double-deck trains have received much praise for the extensive luggage areas at the end of each train, occupying one and a half coaches and allowing seamless baggage check-in from any station on the route.

-----------

More images coming soon.
On the map, there is only 1 more city (many many more towns though) that is not connected to the network by a spur from the Alphabet Project hub. I need a good imaginative name for it!
