(Released V1.1) London and Port Stanley Railway equipment

Post by Train-a-Mania »

For those of you who have MSTS, one great route is the London and Port Stanley by Wayne Campbell. It dates back to 1927. The detail is incredible, and the equipment is awesome.

His #2 Motorcar has already been done (but it could be improved). I think it would be awesome if we could convert the equipment to LoMo and possibly make an L&PS scenario.

For those who would like to learn more about it...
http://www.lnps.info/

and for those who want to download it...
http://hawkdawg.com/MSTS/rts/lps/lps.htm

P.S. I am NOT Wayne Campbell, just an admirer of his route.

EDIT: It's released!

I have included the following in V1.1:
L&PS Motorcar (2-10)
L&PS Motorcar (12/14)
L&PS Trailer cars (1-5)(7-11)
L&PS Coach (13-19)
L&PS L1-L3
L&PS L4-L5
L&PS E1
L&PS Boxcars 2-5
L&PS Caboose C1
L&PS Caboose C2
L&PS Snowplow mounted on a flatcar

As I said, I cannot include the B&LE hopper because I wasn't able to contact the creator.

If someone wants to make a London and Port Stanley scenario, that would be terrific!

EDIT (7/7/07): V1.1 has been released.

I too admire his route (a shame all the activities people are making for it are tedious shunting) and think L&PS would be an ideal Locomotion map - for one thing, it would actually fit properly into the tiny Lomo map sizes!

I think this should be more appropriate in the Offtopic section :)

Why?! I think it would be a good addition, plus maybe the basic map in the scenarios?

It looks more like he is advertising a MSTS route to me.

In some ways, Illegal Alien, I am advertising a route. However, since the route is free and I am NOT Wayne Campbell, I see no problem with this.

I think that it would be neat to see the route in two programs, MSTS and LoMo.

And got permission :) Thanks W.A. Campbell :)

It goes only about the trains of Campbell, so the:

- LPS Weedsprayer
- LPS Boxcar
- LPS E1
- LPS Flatcar
- LPS L1, L4 & L5
- LPS No1
- LPS No2

The boxcars are so common, alike wagons are also in Plastikmans trains I think.

For some others I may ask permission, don't know yet.

Please notice that I am starting on this after I have finished the French set and the Prague scenario, and I will do it together with the Italian set, which I am going to do too in future.

So stay tuned, will keep you updated :)

Train - a - mania, can you change the title from [REQ] to [WIP]?

I'll make that change. Thank you for asking him for me.

I have a few questions, however. I noticed that you didn't include any B&LE hoppers. That's one of the main freight commodities.

Motorcar #10 lasted into the 1940s, when it had its paint scheme changed (and Wayne has made the model).

There were also 4 passenger coaches the L&PS owned.

Trailercars 7, 9, and 11, had different front ends than the other trailer cars.

Should we include these models, or is that asking too much? Also, do you have a rough idea of when you can get it started?

EDIT: Thanks for taking up the challenge! :D 8)

The BLE hoppers are not from Campbell. I have to ask permission to someone else. I can do that.

And I mentioned only the traintypes, not the types of repaints. There are several repaints in the files, that will be oke.

I will look for Motorcar #10.

And I dunno when I can start, next week or the week after I think. Dunno for sure though.

Anyone who downloaded the fixed Motorcar No 2 I tweaked, notice a) the extended lifespan (so it doesn't wear out as quickly) and b) the horn sound (they have an unusual but loud horn - I've ridden on Motorcar No 8, and the sound really makes you jump!) which I changed to be the steam ferry's toot-toot.

If you can take these into account when converting the models, it'd be great. :o

You tweaked them in MSTS or Locomotion ?

Are they already available for Locomotion ?

As Train-a-mania says, someone made a Lomo Motorcar No. 2 from the MSTS model - however, he got a number of the stats wrong, which I then fixed and re-uploaded.

That's all that was done, though, just that one vehicle, and to be honest, it wasn't really that well done - didn't look right at all.

It went too fast (on the L&PS the speed limit for them was 40 MPH) and the pantograph was down all the time (so how does it get electricity?).
