Deport at splitted line

Post by Dezmond_snz »

Well, it seems subj is says nothing, but my question is very simple: why trains don't go to deports?
(breakdowns is on, so they need to service (r16918))

If i place deport at main line, they normally service.

I'd say the train do not consider the route going through the depot as it's not the most direct route. And even with 0% reliability they won't reserve a track to the depot because they can't (from the signal before the junction)... remove the signals between the track split and the depot and they SHOULD be able to choose the route to the depot.

The problem is, as stated in FS#2955 that a red signal counts as 10 tiles. The pathfinder will look ~15 tiles in front to find a depot. As it won't change reservations it has to find the path before reserving, thus while the path signal is still red. Leaving you with only ~5 tiles to find the depot. Substract from that the tile with the signal, the tile where the rail branches and the tile where the train enters and the depot must be awfully close. Also trains don't check for depots every tile, but every so often, making it even less likely to find the depot.

If you place a path signal at the branch leading to depot it will never find it. If the length from the (red) path signal before the branch till the depot is more than something like 3 it will never find it.

Strange that at other line with much PBSs they do!
upper line with PBS - OK, but at viewport with simple signals - not...
