Maybe it will look a bit better if you use a sunny-side temperate grass tile as a base for those and cut out the shape from that. For example from this tile from the OpenGFX:

Only changed the Golf Greens at moment. I using the OpenTTD 1.6.0-RC1 with the default landscape.

I will do the fairway with same grass tile but change the darkest greens to a shade lighter.

I just done rest of the sprites and took aay the real dark greens .. I think looks good now.

The tress are from Forest Objects. The lake in the middle made from the sprites with Dams already in the game. The sand I shovelled it off the Beach Objects.

This Golf Course will be added to the Roadside Object set.

Woops .. forgot to mention .. the Golf Course is the brain wave of Kamnet. has some other ideas I like to try later too.

imo the grass should have some pattern. Stripes, circles, checkers, something. It's rather typical for golf courses. And that way you could keep it in the same color as the default, only differently "mowed", which would maybe look less tagged on.

That might work too Pyoro .. kinda like to have the grass a bit different shade then the default as the default suppose to represent the rough and mostly natural .. the grass on golf courses especially the Green I think specially planted.

I'll try both ideas tomorrow after I had some sleep and see how they look. If I give the strip mower affect from the default grass .. maybe I should use 2 or 3 of the lighter shades?

Anyway I off to bed .. see what tomorrow (or should I now say today as it after midnight here) brings.

I just quickly mowed some of the default grass see what looks like .. whatcha thnk of this?

I'll find out in morning what you all reckon.

Maybe take a look at the farmland in OpenGFX and change the browns for different shades of green. Maybe then you get the desired effect.

Maybe take a look at the farmland in OpenGFX and change the browns for different shades of green. Maybe then you get the desired effect.

I had a go at the farmland using greens from default grass .. but unfortunately in blended in with the default too much and not easy to see .. at least I not see it good.

So I tried making the colours I used and make it look a bit more mowed like. It can be seen but wonder if it better then previous?

You could be right .. I had several goes with farmlands to try get something look like mowed grass, but they not that easy .. maybe that idea not suitable for fairways as they are narrow so don't show out as good and hard to see on the default grass.

Our mate Swiss works at a Golf Course so he having a look at the sprites now see what he can do.

I been having a break from the Golf Courses trying to think ideas.

I been looking at some Golf Course plans on internet to get some ideas.

Some ideas are:
Making the fairways a bit wider and making more variety.
Didn't realise till I seen the internet plans that there is more then 1 tee off for each course .. so will add more.
Seen most of the sand traps are near and around the green area .. so maybe I could remove them from along the fairway.
See if I can link the Water up with the water sprites I done for the dams so they look better and can make lakes on the golf course.

Getting the mowed look not easy but will experiment some more.

If you play golf .. give me some ideas if you think I off the beaten track with what I doing.

These some buildings I put together maybe could use as Club Houses.

The first 2 are from Chips set .. I extended the second floor of the Dispatch Office. The next 2 are from a building from Town Walls Objects .. I change the windows and Doors to try give it a club look.

Here is another try at doing the Fairways for the Golf Course.

Tried to make them look mower and still look good when places on default grass.

I feel the bottom right might be better colour for a fairway as it usually mowed natural grass. Maybe the lighter one be ok for the Tee and the Green.

Also trying to allow the water ways to connect to the water pieces I made for the Dam and the Fake Rivers.

Any opinions on the Fairways?

I been goofing around and came up with this for a Golf Club and Course.

Lawns have been mowed ready for you to have a game.
There are 4 sets of Tees .. one for each direction .. black, Yellow, Blue and White.
There are 20 fairways to choose from
There are 8 Greens to try find the hole.

The water hazards can be linked to the water pieces in the Dams and some of the Fake Rivers. I intend to make some more Fake Rivers when I re-done some coding in the Auz_Lineside_Objects.
Been asked to put some trees and shrubs nearer the Fairways .. I think I could find some trees and shrubs from the farm Objects .. maybe the shrub fence lines there might have some seedlings I can get.

I hope later to make some Fairways on Slopes so can play golf in them hills.

Anyone like to test the Golf Courses I attached the Game and also I'll attach the Source if any one would like.

I agree, maybe not a bad idea to ask SwissFan91 if he has some nice graphics that are suitable for clubhouses.

Thanks Quast65. That grass looks good .. will give it a try and see how it goes. I never thought of the mowed grass like that .. I tried to use the farm objects that had ploughed fields but couldn't seem to get it to look any good and it just blended in with the default grass.

Before I change the grass and search for a Club House I'll finish off some re-coding I doing to Lineside Objects first.

Just to fill you in what I'm up to. Doing some editing to Auz_Lineside_Objects.

I've change the Stock Yards so instead of 2 tiles of each .. there is now one of each including Cattle, Sheep and Pigs .. this way you can make your stock yards to how you like, whether just want one tile or want many.

Hi guys,

I relayed the grass for the Golf Course using the seedlings that Quast65 gave me.

I built it around default river and slopes from a random generated game.
Trees are from Forest Objects.
Tennis Courts and Golf Buggy Roads from City Objects.
Paths in front Gold Club House from VAST (Objects).
Club House from Town Walls Objects.

I'd like to ask the makers of City Objects if I can use their road objects to make Golf Buggy Roads. Remove the greys and leave the Roads, park benches and shrubs.

Comments appreciated.
