Use the "Max trains / road vehicles / aircraft / ships per player" patch in the configure patches window.
"There's a readme that comes with the source. I suggest you read it."

yeah i have them all at 240... the thing is i've only got 133 trains, 100 road vehicles, 128 aircraft and 2 ships and i've got about say 10 vehicles i can purchase before i get the too many vehicles message.. my trains are mostly about 14 cars in length.

i read that ttdpatch allows up to 40000 vehicles? how about openttd? i can't use ttdpatch cos i'm using a mac.

Its not that hard to open up openttd.cfg and edit it. Look at the picture:

thanks for that jpg, but my problem is i havent even reached the 240 train/plane/ship/rvehicle limit! unless i'm mistaken, i dont see a way i can build more vehicles by altering the cfg file.. i believe i hit the uhm.. other limit... you know where helicopters are considered as three vehicles, planes as two, and miscellaneous train cars as one each..?

You hit the internal limit of 4096 total vehicles... only way you're gonna get more is by recompiling the source with a higher value.
Siggy not gonna work unless someone allows javascripting...

sorry if i'm being pesky... but how does one recompile the source? i've wiped out my competitors already.. or rather bought them out as their bad tracks were in my way.

get yourself the source code, some compiler and some experience haha... open up vehicles.h and change the NUM_VEHICLES_TOTAL to 16000 (or whatever suits you ~ name can be little different!).

Don't try this if you know nothing about compiling and such.

Or you can wait a few weeks for the devs to implement their proposed new way of vehicle allocation. That would solve your problem.

or you can ask a nice person to recompile it for you and mail you the .exe with a higher limit.... can't do it myself unfortunately as I recently switched to linux.
