road vehicles tied up

Post by Psistorm »

well, its finally happened to me:
I got 3 mail vans stuck up in front of a bus stop.
I think it was caused by having 2 road vehicle depots in the same town, the buses switched destination between the next stop and the depot continuously. I got a lock-up of 5 vans untangled last time, but unfortunately I just cant get the mess sorted out this time, the vehicles just wont move :(
since the stop is in the middle of the town, I could build a heliport to get the mail out, but helis wont carry mail

Id be glad if someone could manage to un-tangle the 3 vehicles, I already removed the secondary depot from the town and deleted a few vehicles.

the vehicles affected are the only 3 mail vans I got right now, the lock up should be on the screen when you load the savegame, just turn on invisible buildings

thx to anyone who can help me :)

um... strange

nevermind my above problem, it kinda dissolved after re-loading the savegame, strangely.
feel free to download the save, tho, and comment on my network ;)
(this topic can be closed if a mod wants to, the problem has sorted itself out - tho I got no clue how)

Good to know that saving/loading the game solves the problem.
Because otherwise they would be stuck forever, and ever and ever (just like in a fairy tale :P ).

There is already a fix for this problem though, and will be added to the codebase as soon as possible.

There is a fix for this problem?!?? what do you mean?...exactly?!?
cause my trucks and buses entangle on regular basis (probably cause I have a lot of them going on the same station) and don't know how to get rid of them once they get STUCK...turning, stoping, sending to depot sometimes works sometimes not...
.. so if there's a fix available on the net ANYWHERE..please tell me where I can find it  ..pretty please:)

Just download the latest nightly version. The fix is in there since revision 64. :D

I found the Nightly build, installed it and noticed that it has some improvements since my OpenTTD..in File Preferences I found out that my version was 0.3.2.1 and Nightly was 0.3.3.. presuming that's the last one (read that somewhere on the net) I have the thing what you're talking about.
So a question: how excactly WAS that fixed? The vechiles simply won't entangle anymore cause they have a better algorythm (spelling  )??
I will be able to "dis-entangle" them:)?? Ooor?

And in Configuring Patches i found an option: Queing for vechiles. What does it exactly do??

The nightly build is not a release like 0.3.3 - it contains the very latest additions which aren't in any official release :)

They won't (shouldn't) tangle anymore.

It makes vehicles queue out the front of a station when its full instead of going around the block.
