We can do both, just dont do anything extra to the roads/vehicles just yet ;-)
But do make those changes I mentioned in a previous post, then we can move on again.

Goodnight!

I can still buy the 3 vehicles in the depot of the regular road and they also still drive onto it.
If you wouldn't want that, you'd need to remove "ROAD" from the "powered_roadtype_list".

However, I wouldn't recommend prohibiting the vehicles on standard road, as sometimes you might want to cross a standard road occasionally.

I know, that is what I was going to do as the next step, to kind of make clear what a powered_roadtype_list does.
But there had to be some cleaning to the code done first ;-)
However, I wouldn't recommend prohibiting the vehicles on standard road, as sometimes you might want to cross a standard road occasionally.
You still can cross a road (depending on which road is in what powered_roadtype_list) without vehicles wondering off into the other road.
That is what I am trying to achieve, but we are going too fast for now.
Like I said, first some cleaning, as right now everything is powered in each other.

We'll continue tomorrow after Garry's (and later today, my) beautysleep ;-)

I'm very inclined to know, how this would be achieved, as to my understanding, there is no other possibility for road vehicles then being powered or not powered.

I'm patiently waiting then

Thank you buddy, great work on the changes!

Now we are going to do the magic (I hope ;-) )

For both of the Farmroads (so SCPH and SCPR) change this:

Code: Select all

powered_roadtype_list:       ["A_RD", "ACLK",	"ACRD",	"AER0",	"AER1",	"AER2",	"ALA0",	"ALSP",	"AR11",	"AR12",	"AR13",	"AR14",	"AR21",	"AR22",	"AR23",	"AR24",	"ARD0",	"ARD1",	"ARD2",	"ARD3",	"ARD4",	"ARD5",	"ASP0",	"ASP1",	"ASP2",	"ASPT",	"ATRD",	"AUZ0",	"AUZ1",	"AUZ2",	"AUZ3",	"AUZ4",	"AUZ5",	"AUZ6",	"AUZ7",	"AUZ8",	"AUZ9",	"AUZA",	"AUZB",	"AUZC",	"AUZD",	"AUZE",	"AUZF",	"AUZG",	"AUZY",	"AUZZ",	"B_RD",	"BEAC",	"BIKE",	"BRIC",	"COAL",	"COB2",	"COB3",	"COB4",	"COBB",	"CONC",	"CSRD",	"DIRT",	"ELA0",	"ELA1",	"ELA2",	"ELRD",	"ELSP",	"FUEL",	"GRAV",	"HAUL",	"HRSC",	"HRSE",	"IRD0",	"IRD1",	"ISR1",	"ISR2",	"NL10",	"NL12",	"NL30",	"NL50",	"NL5F",	"NL60",	"NL80",	"OFFR",	"OLD_",	"ORD0",	"ORD1",	"ORD2",	"ORD3",	"ORD4",	"PCRD",	"PTRD",	"ROAD",	"SAND",	"SCPH",	"SCPR",	"SETT",	"SRD0",	"SRD1",	"SRD2",	"TOWN",	"UER1",	"URD0",	"URD1",	"WRD0",	"WRD1",	"YARD"];
Into, just this:

Code: Select all

powered_roadtype_list:       ["SCPH", "SCPR"];
And that should (hopefully) do the trick. :P

If I am correct then this should happen:
- You cant buy the 3 vehicles anymore in the basic road depot and the vehicles cant drive on basic road anymore, they ONLY drive on the 2 farmroads (and can be bought only there).
- You can still buy all regular vehicles in all 3 depots and they can all also drive on all 3 roads.
- You can still cross all 3 roads with each other.
If you cross the farmroads with the basic road, then the farmroad is "dominant" So the crossing has the look of a farmroadcrossing
The 3 vehicles can use this crossing, but wont drive onto the basic road
If you cross the 2 farmroads with each other, then the FIRST placed road is "dominant" So the crossing has the look of the farmroadcrossing of the first road.

I have my fingers crossed...

Re: HERDING LIVESTOCK TO MARKET

Hope to try those when I get home this evening and let you know the outcome.

In 1/2 hours time I got get a bus to the railway station and go train watching for awhile. There suppose to be a train loaded with steel every Thursday afternoon and I determined to get a video of it. Every time I tried so far it has ran late so not able to wait for it as my last bus home is at 6.30. So maybe this afternoon I be lucky.

Cheers buddy.

Yes that is true ..

Yep.

Yep again.
This is how the intersection with a normal road looks.

Shame the sealed road not show crossing the farm road but I guess not much we can do about that for now. Once OpenTTD allows Waypoints then it will be easy to control the farm RVs.
Another way is to go under the roads like I seen in some places.

Here the game file and latest sources.

Re: HERDING LIVESTOCK TO MARKET

This is roughly how the powered_roadtype_list works:

We have road XXXX and road YYYY

If road YYYY is in the powered-list of XXXX, then this happens:
- Roads can cross each other, the (catenary)graphics of road YYYY is dominant
- Vehicles linked to XXXX (Either directly or via alternative-list) can be bought and drive on both roads
- Vehicles linked to YYYY can only drive and be bought on YYYY (but can cross a road if both roads are layed on top of each other)

If both roads are in each other (so both) powered-lists then this happens:
- Dominance regarding graphics depends on which road was placed first, first one is dominant
- Except for when a road has catenary, then road with catenary is dominant
- Vehicles can be bought and driven on both roads.

Above is same for trams.
Graphics of trams are always dominant over road

Now we (or should I say you :D ) got it working .. now leave it open to add other farm machine and eye candy livestock that can travel down the middle of the roads.

Hope now we can herd sheep to the shearing sheds and cows to the dairy to be milked. Tractors can tow plows from the shed to the fields. Test my drawing skills on the older tractors from ISR and see if I can do side and end views. Maybe I could also make a shearing shed and Milking shed depots. I need to get my mind active for health reasons and I sure this will really keep it active. :D

Any suggestions?

Thanks heaps pal.

Well, I think we (mainly you  ) should get working on your other 3 roadsets.

1. Adding parameters to them.
2. Think about what roads are kind of in the same sort of group (highspeedroads, normalspeedroads, pedestrianroads, farm/rural-roads, industrial-roads, etc etc)
This to think about what roads should be in each others powered_roadtype_list, as now everything is in each others powered-list and that could use improvement.
3. Add alternative_roadtype IAAN to the appropriate other farm/rural-roads
4. Think about what labels the "vehicles" in that GRF with the marching armies should get
5. Impliment those into the appropriate roads via alternative_roadtype

This has no rush by the way and can be done along your development of nice things for the auzobjects.

I think for discussing this, we should switch over to this thread:

Yep they do only ride on left.

That because when on US roads it safer to ride against on coming traffic to see what is going to hit you. :D

Shall look in to it. Busy next 2 days with shopping and train riding.

In the US it is safer to WALK against the flow of traffic in order that both parties are observing each other. However, bicycles are legally defined as road vehicles, and as such are expected to be ridden in roadways (never on sidewalks) with the flow of traffic, either mixed (occupying the full use of the road) or to the side to give preference to larger vehicles in areas where there is not a dedicated painted bike lane or segregated bike lane.

Not just in the US.
Pedestrians should also walk on the left here. However, wheelchairs, for example, are means of transport like bicycles, but they, even electric ones or scooters, are considered "pedestrians".

Same in Australia .. walk towards on coming traffic and also told that when we was kids on our bikes. It wasn't law .. it was just common sense which people don't seem to be allowed to have these days. :D
