Hello, I took a look at the FIXES GRF, but i can't find how it could help me.

I don't want to block industries to spawn during gameplay, I just want them to spawn according some rules to avoid having 3 steel mill for 1 iron ore mine, or 1 power supply per coal mine.

Hi MagicBuzz.

AIRS is designed with the intention that players will fund secondary / tertiary industries and that industries do not spawn during gameplay. While AIRS will work with automatically generated maps, this mod works best with manually placed primary industries in the Scenario Editor.

I will continue to tweak the industry map probabilities based on feedback, but changing the behaviours above isn't within the scope of this NewGRF. I would kindly suggest checking out some other industry mods which may be more suited to your gameplay style.

Version 1.2 of AIRS now includes the new Black Gold and Fire economy. This is based on the historic industrial area of the South Wales valleys. Some of the highlights are listed below.

1860
A simple metal flow is available. Pig iron is produced at the iron works and can be delivered to the Metal Workshop which produces goods. The Basic Factory also accepts coke and produces goods.

1895
The Blast Furnace and Steel Mill are available. The Steel Mill also accepts limestone to produce steel which is accepted at the Machine Shop, and the Wire and Section Mill.

1930
Petroleum and chemicals can be imported at the Liquids Terminal. The Sheet and Pipe Mill is also introduced which is another source of goods.

1965
Intermodal goods are produced and accepted at the Inland Terminal and Container Port.

2000
The Recycling Plant accepts recyclables produced by the Recycling Depot and also produces Scrap Metal.

New Industries

Coal Stage
In the mid 19th century, a huge amount of coal was extracted from the South Wales coal field. Some of it was used in the local steel industry, but much of it was exported overseas.
  • Requires coal.
  • Available from 1860.
Ore Landing
In the later part of the century, the local supplies of ore were insufficient to meet the needs of the growing iron industry. Supplies from overseas were delivered to nearby ports.
  • Produces Iron Ore.
  • Available from 1895.
Goods Yard
Traders and farmers bring their wares to towns and larger villages, ready for onward shipment across the map.
  • Produces a small amount of Food and Goods. Accepts Goods.
  • Available from 1860
Iron Works
The economy starts with simple iron working.
  • Requires coal and iron ore. Produces pig iron.
  • Available from 1860

  • I've also created a scenario where you can play with all of the above. See this thread for more details.

Something is wrong in AIRS, the oxygen furnace does not want to accept coke even though it has it listed.

Hi Argus!

Which version of AIRS are you using and which economy are you playing with?

Is it possible there is another coke-accepting industry within range of the station?

Can you provide a screenshot? Thanks!

There are two coke recipients close to each other.
The lower plant receives coke fine, but the upper plant only accepts pig iron. It doesn't matter if I send a train or a car.
I'm also sending the given game, maybe I'm doing something wrong?
What is demolished is the canceled Coke Up train. He didn't even load, the cars won't load either. There was enough coke. As if it was rejected.
It works on the second version with only cars. Could it be a problem with those composite stations?

Hey Argus,

I rebuilt the line between the Coke Oven and the Furnace. I got it to work, but I had to force an empty train to complete the journey first.

With cargo distribution turned on, if an industry is already served you likely won't see cargo "to any station" in the station information as all cargo is accounted for. Once a vehicle has made the journey (I use the skip order button), the cargo distribution map will be updated and future cargo will be sent to both industries.

I hope this helps!

Hello skc,

Good shout. I should be able to update this in the next version. Thanks for the suggestion!

So is there a mistake? Thanks for the info, I thought it was me making the mistake and tried it twice, with the car and the train. It is interesting that in the next game played it only works with cars, the problem is probably the size of the stations, right?
By the way, this is the first time this has happened to me.

It's not a problem with AIRS. The behaviour you're seeing is expected when using cargo distribution and attempting to send cargo to a second destination if it is already being sent to the first destination.

When you first start servicing an industry, the first few batches of cargo will be sent to "any available station". Once regular service is started, all cargo will be allocated to that path and destination. No cargo will be available for "any available station", so any new paths won't be recognised.

You can force an update to the cargo distribution map by running a least one vehicle on the new path. Once this has been completed, the distribution map will be updated and cargo will start to go to both destinations. If a vehicle on the second path is set to "wait for full load", but the path has never been used, OTTD doesn't recognise the path as a valid destination.

I understand. This hasn't happened to me yet, but maybe I just didn't notice or it got fixed in the meantime
I don't set the wait for full load.

By the way, why isn't there a fishing industry in the Wales economy either, if there is in Wales?
So he is South Wales, but I think he also fishes there :)
Otherwise it's a good industrial set with good ideas, I just don't like that the ships are left almost unused. :)

Getting an issue with the "Black Gold and Fire" economy where, regardless of my world settings, I keep getting an error that it cannot generate slag grinding industries

OpenTTD.cfg attached - I am of course using the "AIRS Extreme RATT 1800" set of GRFs specified within it :)

Tested with just AIRS loaded and it does the same...

Hi Jacob,

Slag isn't produced until the Blast Furnace and Steel Mill are introduced in 1895. The Slag Grinding Plant will be built in close proximity to one of these industries. If your game starts earlier than 1895, due to my oversight it isn't possible to satisfy this requirement when the world is generated.

Apologies for this. I'll fix this in the next update so for Black Gold and Fire the introduction date for the Slag Grinding Plant is set to 1895. Until then, the error can safely be ignored, and the Grinding Plant can be funded in-game like the Blast Furnace.

Thanks for flagging this. I hope you enjoy the set!

Hi Andy,

Just wanted to say I'm having a blast playing with AIRS on your Mountains and Prairies scenario. I find FIRS games a little daunting, especially steeltown. The early starting date, higher day length factor and map layout make for a very relaxing game where I can explore the map and it's many towns and cities at my leisure.

Great job!

My question has not yet been answered - why is there no fishing in the Welsh economy?
Yes, it's nice otherwise, but still almost no work for the ships.

I’m not obligated to answer your question. If you don’t like the industries on offer, please go and play another set (or create your own FIRS fork).

I like your industry with exceptions, I was just expressing my reservations and was curious as to why that is. I thought the question was overlooked.
I'm sorry, but if the question sounded offensive, it certainly wasn't meant to be. I google translate and sometimes it changes the meaning.
