Outdated Screenshots on Homepage

Post by Master X »

Hi all,

when browsing through the homepage (https://www.openttd.org/screenshots) I stumbled upon all these outdated screenshots. Ok, the changes are not so big in comparison, but wouldn't it make sense to upload some newer screenshots. The "newest" ones are from version 1.9 currently. And we are using OpenTTD 12 now...

Contrary to what the version numbers might suggest, the version 1.9 is not that old. I don't think there have been any changes since then that would be prominently visible on screenshots. That said, adding some fresh screenshots, perhaps from the competition thread, certainly wouldn't hurt.

The only significant visual change between OpenTTD 9 (or 1.9 if you prefer) and OpenTTD 12 (which would be 1.12 under the old versioning) is the addition of NewGRF Roadtypes and Tramtypes (NRT).

OpenTTD 13 will see a more prominent change with the new UI scaling options, and possibly NewGRF Road Stops.

So, if 1.9 is 9 for you, how you will call 0.9 if 1.0 is 0? :D

Yes, the new road types are the most significant change since 1.9, but not the only noticeable one. The interface has also changed a bit. As of version 1.11, graphs have a dark background and a brown frame. From version 12, the online players list window has been completely changed, as well as the signals building window, which by default shows only the easiest to use signals. Version 13 is also changes in the interface. Mainly the improved layout of the finance window and the scalable interface, although this change, if refined, will be very difficult to show on the screenshot. :) There will also be changes in terms of gameplay, where apart from different stop graphics, wider rivers will also appear and it will be possible to build safe multi-track crossings.

As for the page with screenshots, it would be nice if the most important changes for a given version were listed below them (not only the visible ones). In this way would be created a nice story of development of this game. :)
Regarding screenshots, maybe it's nice to give the author's name, but mostly for the author. For someone interested of the game, the names of the add-ons used or the description of the presented change may be more useful (information about authors of screenshot can be still interesting but no so much).
I am sorry for may English. I know is bed.
