I'm not sure how many people will find this as interesting as I do, but why not find out. As some might know, I take an interest in the genesis of TT. Yesterday I had a closer look at the CD-ROM containing the game manuals of Hasbro's "Tycoon Collection", as part of which the Windows version of TTD was released in 1999. And I found this on it, in the cross promo folder. Anybody notice something in the menu bar? These must have been taken from a pre-release version older than the DOS release of TTD in 1995.
Strange that they would use such old screenshots for such a late release version. Also weird that they would cross-promote the very game they're selling with the product... and a shame these images are in such poor quality (low-res and JPEG compression).
Anyway, does anyone know of more early peeks at TTD?
Really early versions of TTD
Re: Really early versions of TTD
I'm not surprised. The screen shots were probably made years before and whoever was in charge of packaging this put the least amount of work necessary to put out a (now) budget title. For 1994-1995 era computers this was probably the most high resolution graphics that could be created and distributed that would display reasonably well on most PCs of the era.

I'd rather play TTO Full Conversion pack + PIRS to makes me feel like I'm playing early versions of TT + new industry.
I tested it on TTD v3.02.011 & OTTD 12.1 and it's working smoothly so far.
