The last precompiled version you can run on Sierra is OpenTTD 1.10.3
is https://cdn.openttd.org/openttd-release ... macosx.zip

Keep in mind that this is not the current version of OpenTTD. There will likely be nobody else running this version as multiplayer games. Some NewGRFs may be too new to play on this verion. If you want the latest version to run on an old version of MacOS, you will need to download the source code and compile it yourself.

Note on that compiling yourself: The reason newer OpenTTD versions don't run on older macOS versions is that Apple does not provide the tools to let us do it. It might be technically possible to do, but it would also be a huge undertaking to set up, and require a lot of working knowledge of building compilers, runtime libraries, and more.

Hi everyone, I tried recently to get my hands on openTTD for the first time and I downloaded it from Steam. But as you can imagine, since I'm running the game in Sierra, the game won't work. Then, I stumbled upon this thread and realized that there were earlier precompiled versions of openTTD (thank you Kamnet for sharing the direct link). After downloading the zip file, I read the README.md to know how to get the game running and then downloaded the graphics, sound effects and music of the game and installed them manually in the baseset folder (full directory being: Machintosh/Users/myuser/Documents/OpenTTD/baseset).

However, after reviewing several times everything I opened the game and... it reports a crash. The game doesn't want to open and it shows me this on screen:

A serious fault condition occurred in the game. The game will shut down.

And it tells me where the crash log is, which I am going to leave right below:

Code: Select all

Crash at: Fri Mar 17 10:29:54 2023
In game date: 0-01-01 (0)

I do not know how to solve it, the only thing I know is that it is a segmentation fault and considering what I have read in github from similar reports of other people in Mac is like the name for a crash (I am not so sure about this, correct me if I'm wrong), but in their cases at least they had the game running so they had their gamelog started, which I do not have.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks people.
