orudge wrote: 14 Jun 2019 09:44 The projects.tt-forums.net site is currently down. This include the TTDPatch bug tracker, which I intend to migrate to the TTDPatch GitHub project in the near future. I hope to get it back up shortly.
This is now fixed - moved from using the Debian version of the packages to a Docker image. The plan is still to deprecate this entirely at some point, though, as the site isn't particularly used and TTDPatch is sadly very much dead (as I say, I'll move the bugs to GitHub first though).

When viewing in mobile mode, the forum logo does not appear, so it's a unintuitive of a way to get back to forum index immediately. Still possible, but not as quick to identify how.

I also find the mobile version cuts off a lot of info from the index page and also the category pages, no last author etc. For this reason, I have stuck the site on desktop mode. Also disappointed that phpBB3 still doesn't have the name of the thread last posted to and sticks to just author if latest post. Would save a lot of wasted clicks.

Its shame that old subSilver2 was removed. It was best theme imo.
As always, newer is enemy of old.. Better is enemy of good..
But every time I have doubts do we really have progress here...

Unfortunately if we don’t upgrade then the outdated software is at risk of hacking and exploitation, which is not ideal. 🙁

I find that the icons highlighting whether there are new topics are much too hard to spot. It actually deters me from browsing the forum. I understand that it may be a big project to change them, but is that something we can change? The old grey (no new) vs dark yellow (new) was much clearer and in line with our forum design.

I would assume that owen wouldn't be opposed if s/o came up with an additional theme ready-made which he could offer.

The main issue with adding custom themes is that they all have to be updated every time a phpBB update comes out. The changes are often only minor (unless it's a major release - e.g., 3.1 to 3.2), but they all take time, and if the theme has diverged significantly from the default proSilver theme, then it can potentially be a pain. Hence with the new TT theme, I've tried to keep the changes from proSilver as small as possible - it's really just the CSS that's changed, the vast majority of the template files are inherited directly from proSilver.

So you need a theme-maintainer :)

It's more a job announcment than the job application :P (I'm quite fine with *this* theme and don't use subliver or other :P)

I liked the design of SubSilver too, but it was technologically outdated. HTML layout tables are bad, because they use up about twice as much bandwidth as a design with CSS, and they are also very problematic for people who rely on screen readers or would like to swap out the CSS for higher contrast.

The new theme has a bit of a problem with attachment description text. Grey on grey just doesn't work, don't you agree?

In mobile view, the top advert is often very wide, I am not sure if that is the ad itself or the forum code. The result is quite huge though and this isn't a particularly small phone resolution either.

Also not sure how relevant that advert is to me

The adverts are now responsive, but I did pick the 'horizontal' option to try to keep it looking somewhat similar to the previous forum look (i.e., no huge page-filling square adverts on mobile). I have relatively little control over the exact dimensions that may appear, though.

I searched this topic on the subject of email notifications for subscriptions and PMs all to no avail.
I do see the Notifications in the forum header, but I no longer receive the email versions which are very convenient as I am not always logged in.
I verified that my email address is still current in my profile.
The last Topic reply notification I received was on June 14.

There may be a sudden torrent of e-mails - it appears the mail server wasn't fully functional following the OS upgrade. Apologies!

Hoho! Torrent indeed ... 16 emails' worth. It's like I was away on vacation.
Thank you for the quick response.
