If I am using the zBase, do I need to download specific vehicles and other objects to support the FIRS and ECS economies or will the work with the standard vehicles?

Thanks.

You WILL need vehicle sets which support the cargoes introduced by the sets. Default vehicles, sadly, do not support these.

So, I am just looking for four sets for each of FIRS and ECS which are: rail, road, ship, and air?

Thanks.

I downloaded as it claims to make everything compatible:

"ECS & FIRS vehicle set"

from the standard game.

Sounds about right, although I haven't used that set myself. I think most vehicle GRFs (sets) support most or all cargos. I like NUTS, myself, it's my kind of crazy. :) It also comes with color-coded tracks, or you can get them separately as PURR.

Might work, yet that probably is - in my opinion - one of the worst. Use nearly any other complete set and train support will be better for both sets. Usually sets support different cargoes by showing them when loaded etc.

EDIT: My pick would be OpenGFX+ Trains, OpenGFX+ RoadVehicles, Squid At Fish, av9, HEQS, and some choice of NARS, IronHorse, DutchTrains, Japanese, Czech, ussr sets. And maybe additionally egrvts for road vehicles.

:(

Might you suggest two complete sets for me? PM (if you feel it is in bad taste like an endorsement)

BTW, my homeland is the USA, but I am currently living in China.

Thanks!

Grab 2cct in nml then, it cover trains all over the world, and you can cherry-pick for example trains only from Asia+North America. Egrvts for generic road vehicles, WAS for airplanes in national liveries, squid or fish set for ships.

Edit: corrected.

If you want not-too-basic sets, here are the sets I propose.
If you like realistic vehicles, try UKRS and Bob's British Buses + Bob's Random British Vehicles.
If you have nothing against generic vehicles, try Iron Horse 2 and Road Hog.
For ships and aircraft, use Squid ate FISH or redFISH for ships and av8 Aviators Aircraft. They suit all games based on all environments (except Toyland, but that's another story).

Also, Town vector must be placed under the Basic vector.
Another thing : do NOT use the Construction vector. It's outdated and useless, too.

I have same error when using JGR patch pack, probably ECS is outdated against current version.

Other industry grf is SPI - it is based on FIRS, but more challenging, need both substrates to be stockpiled, to run production, and some primary industries need passengers for full speed production.

Not outdated. Specs didn't change. OpenTTD became more thorough in catching and complaining about undefined behaviour.
