only reason i posted this here is that it might not be a bug, it might just be something to do with my pc...i just wanted an expert opinion

How can we make this happen?
A crash log, in and of itself, is not very useful.

What did you do when the game crashed? Can you reproduce it? What system are you runnging OpenTTD on?

Ok, since you want more detail, here goes:

I start openTTD, then it opens the game window for about half a second or so, but then comes up with the usual fatal error dialog box.

It happens every time I execute openTTD, and I think it give the same bug report etc every time too.

I am running it (or trying to, hehe) on windows 98SE.

Sorry for being a little patchy before, I am not experienced in bug catching, as you may have guessed

What version of DirectX do you have? Try running "c:\program files\openttd\ttd.exe" -m win32 from the Start\Run box.

Hmm, is there a gm directory in your OpenTTD dir? It's the DirectMusic music driver that seems to be crashing OpenTTD.

There is a gm dir, and as far as i can see it has the normal TTD music files in it.
