Vehicles not maintaining/repairing automatically

Post by NekoMaster »

In 1.5.0 and the latest nightlies, I'm finding that vehicles aren't going to depots to get repaired and so their reliability slowly wears down to 0% and they break down every 5 seconds causing major problems.

I have break downs set to reduced and havent touched the times for how long vehicles wait until maintaining them selves at a depot

I usually add "Maintain at X Depot" orders for most vehicles, but they're not following that order and they pass by the depot without going in for repair and again, they drop to 0% reliability eventually, their break downs clogging stations and intersections

Is there a fix for this? Am I just doing something stupid here? Maintenance use to work just fine in Openttd 1.4.4

The question is, what is the service interval set to?

The default settings, I dunno what that is right now but I don't mess with those settings

if you use path signals, make sure there is a signal before the depot, so the train has a chance to reserve a path to the depot. if the path reservation goes past the depot all the way to the next station, the train never has a chance to visit the depot, as it cannot undo a path reservation

I'm having the same issue. Buses just don't want to be maintained.

Set the maintenance interval % to something much lower.
With max reliability of these vehicles at 99% and interval of 80%, they'll wait until their reliability is down to 20% before they head to depots for maintenance.

Yeah, my vehicles just don't ever seem to want to maintain even when they're at zero %, so they break down constantly

Until you give more information than "it does not work", there is little we can say.

I know it works with default settings in my games, so either you are not really using default settings ("I never touch them" doesn't necessarily imply they are really at default values), or something else is wrong.

Nobody here can see your game, or read your mind, and we cannot tell what is wrong out of the blue. Show us the relevant bits, so we can eliminate possibilities until we find the culprit.

I must be some kind of stupid.... I forgot that when you use the date/year cheat to go back in time it for some reason messes with the maintence scheduals of all vehicles for a while until you reach the year they where built or something like that, either way, I totally forgot about this.

Only reason why I use the date cheat to go back is because sometimes the game goes too fast and I can't keep up (usually because I just can't build that fast and lack of finances). By the time I reach 2000 or some other future date, I don't want to be stuck as a puny little class 3 railroad when I want to have a big sprawing network of trains and buses.... hell I've only ever been able to saturate my lines only a few times in my games because I can't build enough

Thanks Sylf,
Been awhile sense I last played, forgot that it's reverse of what I think it is. 20% from max reliablity instead of, maintain at 80% reliabiltiy.

For anyone else stumbling upon this thread as the only one about this topic. I think my trucks did not go to the depot because the depot was too far from their route.

They were just driving around with 0% reliability even though there was a depot connected to a road further away. Until I put a depot on the road they were driving on, then they suddenly went in for maintanance.
