Been using it since yesterday, upgraded from 8.1, and now trying to do the same to a couple of 7s

Not bad so far, it's everything 8 should have been, although I didn't mind that after getting past the differences.

Thanks for the feedback Born Acorn. I, as well as others, would be interested in any compatabillity issues that may surface. When you have time.

Cheers,

Greyfox.

I've surprisingly upgraded my dying laptop as I was told by Microsoft it was compatible - it's coping, but the fan is in a constant state of arousal.

Not much wrong with it thus far, it feels a lot cleaner. Really annoyed about those white title bars. Apparently the idea is that the developer of the "app" (ugh) can specify the colour for the title bar; the default is plain white (which looks awful). I've already downloaded a custom theme which solves that.

Other than that, I've signed up for a Microsoft account. Not sure how I feel about that but at least it'll retain my settings when my loyal little VAIO finally gives up the ghost.

I'm upgrading it right now on my daughter's two month-old HP laptop. After that I'll probably try a desktop I own w/ Win7.

That's just because you're sitting in front of it, Dave. ;)

I'm still waiting for the update to be "rolled out" to my Windows 7 box. Got a wedding today and a party on Sunday though so I'm not really in a rush!

You can force the issue, I did.

I did it that way as well. I wonder if I can get TTDPatch to work. It should.

I forced it by following tips to clear out the Download directory and running wauaclt.exe /updatenow command. I'm currently near the end of the upgrade, but for the last few hours it's been stuck at 92%.

I reversed my decision not to install Win 10, curiosity got the better of me, so I did, onto my Lenovo B850 laptop, and I used the force method . I made an iso, and went from there.

I installed Locomotion, with no mods/addons, and it works perfectly, much to my surprise. The only adjustment I made was to the resolution.

As expected, Win 10 was a little strange at first, but it seems to run a lot smoother than my previous Win 7 Home. Installation was a little slow but it installed with no probs. Still using Win 7 Home on my PC, we'll see how Win 10 goes first before installing it on this PC.

Regards.

Edit: http://www.techradar.com/au/reviews/pc- ... 4/review/1 This is a review on Win 10. It's quite lenthy (7 pages), but it is well worth investigating if you have the time. It just about covers everything you need to know about Win 10.

Happy reading.

Upgraded it today, and made a clean start by resetting it. Feels fast again. Now lets install all those pieces of software that made my computer slow in the first place.

I ran the development preview for 5 months and it only once locked me in an update cycle for 8 hours :D

Just updated mine - I now have Windows 10 Pro, is this new update install just the Pro edition or is there several different types, depending on the original OS?
Very much a retired regular poster..... If you can say that

Just installed it and I quiet like it to be honest. Already made a few tweaks to things, I'd just like to be able to change the default search engine in the taskbar search to Google rather than Bing but I'm sure I'll work out how to do that soon enough. The return to a proper start menu is most welcome whilst retaining the good bits of Metro theme.

I managed to change it to Google, I think you have to visit www.google.co.uk first, and then under the advanced options of the browser you should be able to add it as a new search engine, or as the default. Something like that worked for me - before I visited it the option to add a search engine was greyed out.

Well, I installed Windows 10. I don't like the white title bars. Going to need to change that.

Otherwise, looks like it might be alright. Shall have a play around over the next few days.

@Owen: Just thought I'd mention, both yourself and Dave commented on the fact that the taskbar is white. Strange thing, mine is black. Just a thought.

It is a setting under Personalization / Color. There is a toggle to display the color on the taskbar/start menu.
