Extra 32bpp graphics

Post by elvismurk »

So recently I've been getting into Opentdd. I really like the 32bit graphics, I have been using zBase most of the time. Although, I spent a lot of time trying to get this installed;

I realized though that unfortunately the tar/png method of adding graphics is no longer supported. I found a bash script posted, but I cannot figure out how to run it in Windows XP. If someone would be able to link me to the resources I'd need to run it or explain it to me themselves, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Edit: Nevermind, my bad. Just found this, https://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/32bpp-ez-build/.

If you have a Linux/Unix (virtual) machine, it's trivial, as bash comes with it.
Otherwise, I think there is bash for windows too (In my mind is "mingw", but not sure, as I don't have windows at all).

Thanks for the reply, as it turns out, someone has already compiled it and made it avaliable here; https://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/32bpp-ez-build/

I'll check out the bash for windows for future reference.

At least I think this is what I was looking for, I haven't tried it yet.

But, I'm wondering, is the 32bpp newgrf stuff still active and being worked on? Or has it kind of died down?

The old 32bpp project is dead, various people contributed and dropped out over the years, with mixed design styles and goals and no clear (if any) licensing for the graphics.

Current projects that use the new standards are zBase, 8/32bpp Trains (now merged into OpenGFX+ Trains), GRVTS, 10CC Pineapple Trains, and a couple of new projects released in the last few weeks.

I'll be astonished if (when) this will all be released. I understand that a lot of work is still in progress, and it's beginning to look like a new game...
