If it happens, it's a tentative maybe.

Ooh, I've been nostalging about this recently too. I'd definitely like to play again, I'll scout around for a new map we might use. I like the idea of a non-Earth map.

EDIT: If I made a new imaginary world map based off the current one, would you guys use it?

I would if there's another map detailing the surface features (we are too used to Earth so one knows where the mountains are; nobody is familiar with other worlds).

I'd suggest this, but it might be just my fetish...

KSP Kerbin Map could be very nice to use, though this is a drunken me in Berlin, so what do I know? Like I've said I'll be up for it, just as time allows, as lots of things are in the way!

If there is a map ready, I can sort the game for starting on Thursday night or some point on Friday , I'd suggest reusing this thread so that we don't p*** off Owen or the mods.

I will see ya all then :D

Rotated a bit and add more water (70%), got something akin of Pangaea...

That's a good thing through. Let's consider which seed one uses, then we can add rivers and a re-re-restart !

More water is better as it splits the landscape up and creates lakes.

Are we going for a blank map like the old ones? I can't think of a good, quick way to edit it other than using paint.

Also, if we play again I CALL DIBS ON BURGUNDY.

Double post! (But for a good cause)

If someone could refine one of these (I prefer the second), that would be awesome.

The way I see it, it's either these or the Kerbin map.

Best part of the whole game.

The president said "We're F***ed!"

Nobody survived anyway (I mean, uh, the players, in the last session). There's the unwritten rule (like, seriously : ask all other former players) that 4 weeks of inactivity means quitting.

And a restart is a must : memories are patchy...

EDIT : I like this seed : 1388668788, 71% water percentage, 10% ice percentage (as it's the same with NOAA data on Earth)
But it's hard to choose where to dissect it (this is set via rotation)... It's kind of if Asia retains where it is but Europe and some of Africa pulled to the equator and the rest of Africa and all America pushed south. Also looks very good on spherical view, if we ever have to get it !

The map (landmarked) here : (white is land, black are seas)

MOAR EDIT : I propose to dissect it at 175 degrees. Looks better as there's nothing on the equator is dissected, just lands to the north and south.

You have to forget about Earth for a bit here. We're not looking for similar continents. Still, it looks decent.

EDIT: After another look, I see something. The land at the poles makes no sense. If there's any land at all, it should be connected at the top and bottom. (Unless you cropped it)

EDIT 2: Made another one

Regarding the map - IMO it should be blank or we'll have problem with marking colors for countries. We can have the colored version asid just for reference.

@Zakos : I was just referencing Earth to get some kind of equal land masses (means that the initial starting size can still be used). The continents were just "like" - of course there're barely any similarities. I think that an islandy map would be slightly better concerning cooperation and competition (like, it's hard to create bridges and tunnels to everywhere, probably only in very future dates) and wars might be more interesting.

I still like your last map ; I even thought it to be Kerbin. But I guess it got a bit small land masses, no ?

Doublepost intended...

I've edited the blank map I got into what we usually see. Rivers have been added, feel free to add more.

Pilot, can you set up a poll for which landscape everyone likes better?

My latest one or the one YNM posted (not including the playable one, unless he wants to edit mine the same way).

Here's my WIP, as another contender for the map. It's based off the old map we used in the last games, but when it's finished it will be unrecognisable except for some small sections of coastline ;)

We should also think about which type of map projection we want. I'm thinking that some overseas travel would be easier to visualize if the map were rectangular.
